Meta is seeking a Systems Engineer; a system role where you'll drive R&D, architecture, and systems plans for upcoming VR & Wearables products, including Realistic Avatars, Input, and Health. You'll help shape the overall strategy and roadmap, collaborating with teams designing, building, and testing prototypes for future consumer experiences. In this role, you'll define and converge complex sub-systems and work across teams to push beyond state-of-the-art consumer systems. This can include developing new sensing systems, modeling, and novel input and communication solutions. To succeed, you'll need to effectively communicate technical concepts across cross-functional teams, driving incubation of new technologies from proof of concept to mass production.
System Engineer Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Research Scientists, system architects, HW, and SW engineering teams to drive requirements and system plans
- Leverage technical acumen to drive specialized tech areas (e.g., CV, ML, data infrastructure)
- Perform analysis and trade-off studies to inform system and data decisions for product and research
- Maintain detailed specifications and assumptions for workloads to ensure alignment across cross functional teams
- Analyze resource utilization, quality metrics, and on target metrics for existing and new features on target platforms
- Effectively communicate technology and product strategy to internal and external stakeholders to drive clear product and organizational decisions
- Create development, delivery and qualification strategies and schedules based on system requirements, technical challenges, lead times and business needs
- Work with teams to set milestones, communicate program status and identify/ address potential setbacks
- Drive engineering teams to bring complex technical issues to closure
- Guide management and partner teams on long-term technology investments through the identification of generation system approaches necessary for AR, VR, and AI experiences, advancing technology and research roadmaps
Minimum Qualifications:
- BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field
- 8+ years of experience in systems engineering, technical systems management, or mechanical engineering
- Experience in Research and Development and early product iteration
- Experience in Computer Vision and Machine Learning Systems
- Experience with architecture definition and/or systems engineering in areas such as electrical systems, ML , firmware, audio, sensors, wireless connectivity, displays/optical systems
- Experience working with partnerships teams and external partners at both supply base and product levels
- In depth problem-solving skills, with experience mapping trade spaces and drive concepts into prototypes
- Interest in new technology areas and willingness to collaborate with subject matter experts
- Prior experience making architectural trade-offs collaboratively with experts in different fields
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with rapid prototyping and proof-of-concept models
- Understanding of consumer electronics and wearable systems across the stackpartnerships teams and external partners at both supply base and product levels
- Experience supporting multiple subsystems from conception to development (hardware, compute, sensors, audio, wireless connectivity, I/O, and firmware)

$139,000/year to $200,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable.
