As a Multi-Camera Systems Engineer you will be responsible for ensuring our Camera and Depth HW in complex multi-camera systems for our AR and VR product lines meets feature requirements. You will identify and close gaps between multi-camera hardware specifications and feature use cases, through modeling, simulation, characterization, and data analysis. You will be working with engineers across HW (Component, module, system integration) and SW (firmware & use-case) to plan and execute E2E integration workstreams to ensure HW readiness and SW feature readiness are aligned to deliver day 0 feature commitments.

Camera & Depth System Tech Lead Responsibilities:

  • Technical leadership and ownership of camera & depth subsystems (multi-camera integration) from architecture down selection to product shipping, serving as primary Camera & Depth hardware representative to system and software teams
  • Ensures all system builds meet multi-camera & depth sub-system requirements
  • Drive open issues with module teams to closure as they come up during execution
  • Define E2E integration workstreams to ensure HW readiness and SW feature readiness activities are aligned to deliver day 0 feature commitments
  • Identify and triage integration risks for multi-camera & depth systems including interdependencies between various cameras and the system & software pipeline
  • Participate in defining user studies, large scale system validation studies, and data collection for all builds accounting for how camera HW is used and the impact to final feature
  • Assist architecture & module design in narrowing option space for future products accounting for execution challenges as well as timelines for NTI/NPI readiness
  • Define and present demos to leadership and cross functional teams. Work with prototyping and feature teams to define HW & SW required for impactful demos to showcase system progress

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Optical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience in camera module design, optical simulation, metrology, testing and lab work to verify imaging component, assembly and system level performance
  • Experience with the product development cycle of high-volume consumer electronics
  • Physics simulation and modeling skills in Python
  • Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Able to travel both domestically and internationally up to 10% time

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS degree in Optical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics or a related technical discipline
  • Systems engineering experience
  • Understanding of machine learning training and evaluation
  • Experience planning and executing large technical projects
