About the Role

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer you will play a key role in designing, developing, and supporting global products throughout their lifecycle. This position requires strong technical expertise, collaboration skills, and a hands-on approach to ensure product reliability, cost efficiency, and manufacturability. You will have the opportunity to influence innovative designs and advanced manufacturing processes in a global Hi-Tech environment.

Key Responsibilities

Product Design & Development

  • Design and redesign mechanical components (plastic, sheet metal, rubber, etc.), ensuring optimal material selection, structural integrity, and manufacturability
  • Prepare and lead design reviews, provide technical input, and actively contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes and methodologies
  • Apply advanced technologies such as 3D printing, injection molding, compression molding, laser and ultrasonic welding, and sheet metal forming to meet cost, reliability, and production targets

New Product Introduction (NPI)

  • Lead all mechanical aspects of NPI, including integration of new machines into production lines and implementation of advanced manufacturing technologies (e.g., laser welding, leak detection, automation)

Lifecycle Management & Sustaining Engineering

  • Plan and execute mechanical tasks across all product lifecycle stages
  • Support sustaining activities such as mold production, reliability improvements, ECO implementation, and troubleshooting

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with global R&D teams and stakeholders (Engineering, Operations, sister companies, external manufacturers) to ensure seamless integration and successful project execution

Testing, Validation & Prototyping

  • Conduct design verification tests (DVT), perform prototyping, and carry out empirical analyses to ensure compliance with quality, reliability, assembly, and regulatory standards
  • Document and communicate results effectively to stakeholders

Data Analysis & Optimization

  • Use statistical tools (e.g., Minitab, Excel) to analyze performance data and drive quality and reliability improvements

Production Support & Optimization

  • Provide mechanical support to global manufacturing sites by resolving production challenges, troubleshooting issues, and implementing solutions to ensure smooth operations and continuous improvement

Advanced Manufacturing Technologies

  • Gain hands-on experience with processes such as 3D printing, laser and ultrasonic welding, laser marking, design for assembly, and joining technologies (clips, snap fits)

Job Requirements

  • B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in a global Hi-Tech multidisciplinary company, with proven ability to work effectively in a matrixed, cross-cultural team environment
  • Experience as a product mechanical designer, including integration of electronics, plastics, metals, and rubber
  • Proficiency in Solid Works CAD
  • Experience with the full mechanical product development process: concept, design, prototyping, testing, and manufacturing
  • Experience with Design for Manufacturability and Cost (DFM, DFC), mainly for plastic injection molding, machining, and sheet metal
  • Expertise in plastics raw materials, mold tools, injection molding technology, and secondary plastic processes
  • Experience in New Product Introduction (NPI) and transferring products from development to mass production in a global environment
  • Project management experience, including planning mechanical tasks and tracking deliverables
