
Chassis Tuning, R&H Engineer
About the role
Objective of Job:
This position is located in the team of Chassis Integration, Tuning, Ride and Handling. The overall task is to ensure that our vehicles fulfill the Mercedes-Benz standards regarding overall vehicle R&H performance, driving behavior and driving safety for Chinese customers.
Tasks include the possibility of working on any specific or the combination of the working scope:
- Chassis Tuning
- Possibilities for both Steel and Air suspension+Adaptive Damping Chassis Variants
- Vehicle Ride Objective and Subjective Evaluation
- Vehicle Handling Objective and Subjective Evaluation
- Vehicle Driving Safety Objective and Subjective Evaluation
Qualifications:
Education:
- University degree in mechanical, automotive engineering or similar engineering qualification
Experience:
-
Excellent driving, evaluation and analytical skills:
Proficient in assessing ride, and handling under various conditions, including high and low friction surfaces
(mue high and mue low). -
Familiarity with automotive or motion measurement systems:
Ability to work highly analytically and solution oriented applying measurement devices. -
Independent and organized work behavior:
-
Ability to work independently with a structured and organized approach.

Graduates with initial experience in the automotive industry:
-
Including internships or entry-level positions.

Experience with OEMs or suppliers:
-
Previous work experience in Ride & Handling (R&H) testing and development is a plus.

Familiarity with vehicle development processes:
-
Especially in chassis development, is advantageous.

International work experience:
-
Experience working in an international company is a plus.

Extended stays in Germany or abroad:
Longer stays for business or education purposes are an advantage.
Specific Knowledge
- Chassis Tuning experience at international/domestic OEMs are preferred (both steel and suspension tuning)
- R&H measurement systems and devices:
- Experience with objective Ride & Handling (R&H) measurement systems and devices as well as evaluation of objective results.
- Vehicle architecture & communication systems:
- Understanding of vehicle architecture and communication systems.
- Chassis concepts and component interactions:
- Strong knowledge of chassis concepts, component interactions, and functions.
- Damper/Bushings/FDY and Ride tuning expertise:
- Proficiency in components tuning for both passive and active systems is an advantage.
- Test vehicle evaluation:
- Capability to evaluate test vehicles regarding R&H behavior under all conditions.
- Issue detection and analysis:
- Sensitivity to issue detection, root cause analysis, and system performance evaluation.
- Teamwork and communication skills:
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with a strong teamwork spirit.
- Planning and organization skills:
- Strong planning and organizational abilities.
- Self-responsible working attitude:
- Initiative and ability to work independently.
Advanced MS Office skills:
- Proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
- Vector Tools (CANape, v Flash, CANoe) usage:
- Advanced knowledge in using Vector tools.
- Willingness to travel:
- Willingness for domestic and international travel.
- Language skills:
Fluent in English and Chinese (verbal, writing, and reading) is mandatory; knowledge of German is an advantage.
