A Day in the Life
As Legal Director for Korea, you will serve as a strategic business partner and guardian of the company’s integrity, enabling growth while protecting against legal, regulatory, and reputational risks. You will lead and develop a high-performing legal team, fostering collaboration, curiosity, and professional growth, while working closely with senior leaders and cross-functional partners to shape strategy, anticipate challenges, and deliver solutions that drive innovation, compliance, and sustainable success.

Key Responsibilities

Lead, mentor, and develop the Korea Legal team to ensure excellence in legal partnering, strategic thinking, and business enablement.

Advise leadership on legal strategy to support business objectives and market growth while ensuring compliance, ethical integrity, and alignment with patient-centered outcomes.

Partner with other functions - including Compliance, Human Resources, Finance, Government Affairs, Regulatory – and Commercial to align legal guidance with operational priorities that advance both business goals and patient impact.

Ensure all legal activities reflect the Medtronic Mission and Mindset, fostering trust with stakeholders, regulators, healthcare providers, and the patients we serve.

Lead or oversee the negotiation, drafting, and review of complex, high-value agreements across commercial, corporate, and regulatory matters, ensuring they enable innovation that benefits patients.

Anticipate and mitigate legal and regulatory risks through proactive counsel and early intervention, safeguarding the company’s ability to deliver therapies to patients without disruption.

Monitor legal and policy developments, advising on their impact to business strategy, patient access, and healthcare delivery.

Compare and assess Korean legal requirements against US and EU legal frameworks to ensure globally aligned guidance and solutions.

Act as a corporate representative in significant transactions, safeguarding rights and ensuring adherence to applicable laws, including competition and anti-bribery.

Oversee governance matters and provide strategic input to leadership and business.

Develop and deliver training programs that embed a culture of compliance, ethical decision-making, shared accountability, and a mindset for continuous improvement.

Engage and manage outside counsel to ensure efficient, high-quality outcomes that align with both corporate and patient-focused priorities.
Requirements

Juris Doctorate degree and admission to practice law.

Minimum of 12 years of relevant legal experience, with a combination of in-house and law firm practice.

Minimum of 5 years in a leadership role managing people and/or teams.

Healthcare industry experience preferred, with knowledge of healthcare-related legal and regulatory issues.

Fluency in both Korean and English, with the ability to draft, review, and negotiate complex legal documents in both languages.

Ability to compare and assess Korean laws in relation to US and EU legal frameworks to provide globally aligned legal advice.
