A Day in the Life
Senior Managers of Business Development for the Neuroscience Portfolio support the execution of the organization’s inorganic growth strategy across multiple Neuroscience Operating Units: Cranial & Spinal Technologies, Neurovascular, Neuromodulation, ENT, and Pelvic Health. Operating as part of a pooled Business Development team, Senior Managers lead and support strategic inorganic activities including mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, licensing, investments, distribution agreements, sales agency relationships, co-developments, and strategic partnerships.
This role will drive the evaluation and execution of transactions aligned with the strategic and financial objectives of these Operating Units. Responsibilities will include opportunity screening, cross-functional team coordination, robust financial and strategic analysis, valuation, due diligence, negotiation, contracting support, and post-transaction reviews. Working closely with the Operating Unit business leaders, Neuroscience coverage leads, finance partners, functional stakeholders, and Corporate Development, this individual will help drive disciplined processes that proactively identify risks and support operating mechanisms that ensure effective inorganic execution across the portfolio.
This role is fast-paced and demanding, requiring the ability to rapidly develop working knowledge across evolving medical device and neuroscience sub-segments. The ideal candidate will have experience in mergers and acquisitions and/or strategic transactions, demonstrated capability in valuation and financial analysis, and a solid understanding of healthcare market dynamics.
Success in the role requires strong strategic thinking, project management skills, and the ability to influence and partner effectively with cross-functional leaders and stakeholders. A proactive mindset, sense of urgency, and strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with a passion for advancing healthcare through thoughtful and impactful business development initiatives.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
- Defines corporate objectives and long-range plans to achieve growth and financial profitability through acquisitions, disposals, mergers, joint ventures, strategic alliances and licensing agreements.
- Identifies, investigates, and analyzes possible acquisition, merger, and licensing opportunities and strategic partnerships.
- Acts as corporate representative and negotiator in initial contact with candidates for merger, acquisition, or licensing.
- Manages on-going licensing agreements, acquisitions, and/or alliances as the business representative for the company to extract the most value from the relationship.
PROGRAM MANAGEMENT CAREER STREAM: Program Managers and Directors focus on tactical, operational activities for a major program with broad or ongoing impact. Levels within the program management career stream typically accomplish program objectives through matrixed employee teams and / or vendors who are not direct reports but for which the incumbent has direct accountability to lead. The majority of time is spent overseeing their area of responsibility, managing program/team performance, communicating project and operational developments, planning, prioritizing and / or directing the responsibilities of program team members. Goal achievement is typically accomplished through performance of program team members.

Requires a Baccalaureate degree (or for degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree which satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)( 4)(iii)(A) and minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$164,000.00 - $246,000.00
This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
