Title and Summary
Director, Platform Engineering
Job Overview:
Provides extensive leadership, direction, and supervision of technical staff performing design, architecture, implementation, security and support of large multi-site, multi-vendor MPLS network communication environments.
Major Accountabilities:
- Supervision of existing network resources, project management, implementation and oversight of network projects.
- Supervise a staff that develops detailed requirements for upgrading existing corporate and Master Card networks, as well as re-architecting network segments in order to facilitate new requirements, technologies and growth.
- Manage the resolution of network communications and operations problems impacting customer or backbone access and performance globally.
- Participate in telecommunications-related initiatives.
- Research and develop innovative network solutions and support chronic complex problem resolution.
- Manage assigned regional projects, which include responsibility for planning; time and cost control; resource utilization and implementation.
- Support Vendor management.
- Recommend future directions and participate in strategic and financial planning.
- Coach and develop direct reports and other employees and ensure department or project is adequately staffed, trained and effectively managed.
- Assume role of primary technical advisor to management on emerging technologies that could impact new developments.
All About You:
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in related functional area or equivalent work experience with exposure to management theories and concepts.
Knowledge / Experience:
- 8+ years of experience.
- Extensive knowledge of Cisco’s product portfolio.
- Extensive knowledge of Project Management methodology and best practices.
- Extensive experience in leadership position of a team consisting of five or more personnel.
- Limited supervision and leads in determining team’s and departmental objectives.
- Periodic work direction and review.
Skills/ Abilities:
- Lead and manage senior technical individual contributor and management staffs.
- Foster open communications across various organizational levels.
- Motivate direct and indirect reports to deliver superior results.
- Think clearly and utilizes sound judgment.
- Provide functional and directional guidance to staff and recommends policy or strategic direction changes to management.
- Will interact across multiple organizational levels and will assume a lead role and set direction for large or complex projects.

In line with Mastercard’s total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. The base salary offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Mastercard benefits for full time (and certain part time) employees generally include: insurance (including medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, disability, life insurance); flexible spending account and health savings account; paid leaves (including 16 weeks of new parent leave and up to 20 days of bereavement leave); 80 hours of Paid Sick and Safe Time, 25 days of vacation time and 5 personal days, pro-rated based on date of hire; 10 annual paid U.S. observed holidays; 401k with a best-in-class company match; deferred compensation for eligible roles; fitness reimbursement or on-site fitness facilities; eligibility for tuition reimbursement; and many more. Mastercard benefits for interns generally include: 56 hours of Paid Sick and Safe Time; jury duty leave; and on-site fitness facilities in some locations.
