About Mastercard Academy:
Role Overview:
The Translations Global Lead will oversee the end-to-end translation and localization strategy for our global training platform, ensuring world-class learning experiences across 15+ languages. This leader will manage translation agencies and vendors, maintain high quality and consistency of educational content, and partner cross-functionally to deliver scalable, culturally adapted learning solutions. They will also support the integration of translation technologies and innovations across the platform.
Key Responsibilities:
Translation Strategy & Operations:
- Own the global translation and localization roadmap for all learning products, including courses, assessments, multimedia assets, and platform UI/UX.
- Define and maintain scalable processes, SLAs, and workflows covering request intake, prioritization, production, QA, and deployment.
- Forecast localization needs across programs and regions, ensuring cost-efficient delivery.

Vendor & Agency Management:
- Select, onboard, and manage translation/localization agencies, language service providers (LSPs), and freelance linguists.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing models, and performance expectations.
- Conduct regular business reviews and maintain high-quality, reliable vendor relationships.

Quality Control & Linguistic Excellence:
- Develop and enforce quality standards, glossaries, and style guides for all supported languages.
- Implement linguistic QA processes including peer reviews, automated checks, and sample audits.
- Analyze user feedback, error reports, and quality metrics to continuously improve linguistic accuracy and learner experience.

Support for Innovation & Technology Enablement:

Support the exploration and implementation of translation technology solutions (TMS, CAT tools, AI/ML enhancements).

Partner with engineering and product teams to assist with translation workflow integration into the training platform.

Help evaluate emerging tools, automation options, and process improvements to enhance scalability and efficiency.

Stakeholder Management & Collaboration:
-
Work closely with instructional designers, content creators, regional teams, and product managers to anticipate and support multilingual needs.

Serve as the central point of contact for all localization inquiries and training for internal teams.

Communicate timelines, expectations, and updates to stakeholders across functions and geographies.

- Governance, Reporting & Continuous Improvement

Track translation costs, quality KPIs, turnaround times, and productivity metrics.

Present data-driven insights and improvement recommendations to leadership.

Establish governance guidelines for new content creation to ensure global readiness (“translation-first design”).

Required Qualifications
-
Years of experience in translation/localization management, ideally within L&D, Ed Tech, SaaS, or global enterprise environments.
-
Proven experience managing translations into 15+ languages at scale (would add key languages).
-
Strong knowledge of translation workflows, TMS platforms, tools, and emerging technologies.
-
Expertise in managing agencies/LSPs, contracts, budgets, and vendor performance.
-
Demonstrated ability to define processes and drive operational excellence.
-
Excellent project management, communication, and stakeholder-influencing skills.
-
Familiarity with instructional design, multimedia, and e Learning formats is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in training/education content, certification programs, or corporate learning.

Background in linguistics, localization, or internationalization.

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, matrixed, global environment.
