Overview:

Mastercard Move is Mastercard’s portfolio of money movement capabilities powering a variety of payment experiences including person-to-person, business-to-consumer, and business-to-business disbursements. Mastercard Move enables money to move quickly and safely, both domestically and internationally, reaching more than 10 billion endpoints and more than 95% of the world’s banked population.

Mastercard is seeking a visionary and results-driven leader to serve as Director of Business Development for the Central America Region. Reporting to the Head of Transfer Solutions – North Division, this role demands a relentless drive to win, exceptional business development acumen, and a proven ability to lead high-performing sales teams. The ideal candidate thrives on challenges, builds impactful relationships, and takes ownership of delivering ambitious results across the Division. Deep expertise in the payments industry, particularly in account-based and card-based money transfers (domestic and cross-border), is essential. Regular travel within the Division is required.

  • Role

  • Lead the Business Development of Mastercard’s Cross-border Services across the Central America Region.

  • Leverage in-depth knowledge of regional trends, cross-border payments, and treasury/settlement banking to identify growth opportunities and mitigate risks.

  • Build and nurture relationships with stakeholders across financial institutions, including C-suite executives, Treasury departments, International Banking teams, FX managers, and other key areas.

  • Drive revenue growth through strategic partnerships and proactive pipeline management, ensuring the delivery of ambitious targets.
    Partner with internal teams, including regional leadership and product development, to deliver market aligned solutions and inform Mastercard’s growth strategy.

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to stakeholders, providing insights that shape the future of payments and cement Mastercard’s role as a leader in the industry.

  • All About You

  • Proven ability on sales with a competitive, results-oriented mindset.

  • Deep expertise in cross-border payments, including account-to-account transfers, treasury/settlement banking, and money transfer products on account-based and card-based rails, both domestic and cross border, as well as alternative solutions to traditional payment rails like SWIFT.

  • Well-established network within the financial services and payments sectors across the Central America Region.

  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with a sharp and persuasive edge.

  • Fluency in Spanish and English.

  • Education: MBA preferred.

  • Availability to be in the office 3x per week.
