Overview:The Southern Africa team is looking for a Marketing Director to drive our consumer and business strategy forward, by consistently innovating and problem-solving. The ideal candidate is passionate about the consumer journey and creating cardholder value, is highly motivated, intellectually curious, analytical, and possesses an entrepreneurial mindset.
Role:In this position, you will lead marketing for the cluster and partner with business development, strategic merchants and market development to identify business opportunities, solve problems, and deliver solutions that benefit Mastercard, our customers and ultimately our consumers. You will have responsibility for driving revenue through activity and ensure investment decisions are made with robust thought and partnership.
Serve as the voice of the consumer through leveraging insights and analytics to plan and execute marketing activities that grow end user affection and loyalty including developing sales and promotion platforms and campaigns In this position, you will dual report into the Country Manager for Southern Africa in addition to the Marketing and Communications Vice President for the African division and will be the most senior dedicated Marketing resource, sitting on the management team for Southern Africa.
Responsibilities:
- Develop tailored marketing programs to increase Mastercard card issuance and usage. These activities include start-up and co-ordination of all the related activities (incentives, relationship, communication)• Leverage sponsorship and other platforms across PR and promotions to gain maximum impact for Mastercard• Development of superior knowledge and marketing intelligence to develop valued and differentiating programs, establishing Mastercard as a customer's preferred business resource.
- Leads execution of Segmented Target Marketing strategies (B2B and B2C), including advertising, promotions, and sponsorships, to deliver against company objectives• Contributes to development of customer and brand go-to-market plans, including outlining potential approaches to leverage consumer insights in marketing programs/activities• Supports efforts to identify segment needs and priorities to develop Consumer Marketing campaign/programs• Measures program performance and develops metrics and specifications to track program performance• Monitors and makes adjustments to marketing budget to ensure that all campaigns, programs, and activities are within allocated budget• Have a clear mission that focuses on the attention of your customer's need above your own All About You:
- Bachelor's degree required• Experience in breadth and depth of marketing, leading projects, innovation from strategy to implementation• Experience leveraging multiple sources of data to identify insights for a campaign or to serve as the basis for developing agency briefs• Experience delivering and assessing creative/advertising across channels• Experience assisting in the production of a report demonstrating true ROI for an initiative• Strong written and verbal communication skills. You communicate your vision and roadmap effectively to a wide variety of stakeholders including agencies, internal stakeholders, media and customers• A passion and comfort in meeting new people and building meaningful relationships with senior-level and C-suite executives.
- Go out of their way to get close to their customer in order to find out what their needs are and how marketing can really help.
- Possess a blend of analytical capability, strategic thinking, and emotional intelligence and able to dive deep on all areas of the business to deliver creative solutions to unstructured problems.
- Enjoy collaborating with a team while working independently towards a goal.
