Position Overview:
As a Lead Software Engineer on the Priceless Engineering Team, you will be entrusted with the stewardship of critical projects and the mentorship of talented engineers. You will architect and build complex, scalable platforms and services that power our most ambitious initiatives. Your technical expertise will be matched only by your ability to inspire and guide others, ensuring the team delivers innovative, reliable, and maintainable solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership: Set the technical vision and drive the architecture for high-impact projects. Ensure design decisions align with strategic goals and industry best practices.
Hands-On Development: Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code. Lead by example, conducting code reviews, pair programming, and cultivating a culture that values craftsmanship.
Project Ownership: Take end-to-end ownership of features and systems, from requirements gathering and design to deployment, monitoring, and iterative improvement.
Mentorship & Collaboration: Mentor and coach team members, fostering growth and technical excellence. Facilitate collaboration across disciplines, including product, design, and operations.
Continuous Improvement: Champion modern engineering practices, including automated testing, CI/CD, cloud-native development, and DevOps. Encourage a mindset of continuous learning and iteration.
Stakeholder Communication: Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Translate complex technical concepts into clear action plans and progress updates.
Quality & Reliability: Uphold rigorous quality standards. Proactively identify and address technical debt, system bottlenecks, and security vulnerabilities.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 2 years in a technical leadership role.
Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages (e.g., PHP, Java, C#, Python, Go, TypeScript).
Strong knowledge of distributed systems, APIs, and microservices architecture.
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and building scalable, resilient systems.
Expertise in agile methodologies and product-driven development.
Demonstrated skill in mentoring and leading cross-functional teams.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in the payments, fintech, or e-commerce industry.
Track record of delivering customer-facing products and systems at scale.
Contributions to open-source projects or technical communities.
Advanced knowledge of security and compliance best practices.
Familiarity with event-driven architecture and reactive systems.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a bias for action.
