Title and Summary
Director/Business Leader, Business Development (Non-Financial Institutions)
Role Purpose:
To lead Mastercard's business development efforts across non-financial institutions in Vietnam by cultivating long-term strategic partnerships across diverse ecosystems. The role aims to drive adoption and growth of Mastercard's payment products, platforms, merchant acceptance, and solutions in both B2C and B2B contexts.
Key Responsibilities:
Identify, engage, and grow partnerships across fintechs, e-commerce platforms, airlines, large-format retail & commerce, telcos, insurance providers, loyalty companies, ride-hailing services, and other emerging sectors.
Drive commercial negotiations and agreements with a strong understanding of P&L dynamics, ensuring sustainable revenue growth and value creation for Mastercard and its partners.
Co-create and implement tailored payment solutions, including embedded finance, co-branded programs, digital rewards, and omnichannel experiences.
Support the vision of a 'World Beyond Cash' by launching and scaling acceptance categories such as contactless, QR, mobile NFC, and e-commerce.
Collaborate with acquiring banks and merchants to grow acceptance in all channels.
Develop frameworks to identify and unlock new business opportunities in both B2C and B2B segments, with a strategic view toward long-term ecosystem growth.
Work closely with internal teams (Product, Marketing, Legal, Finance, etc.) and coordinate effectively with both the Vietnam and Regional teams to ensure seamless execution of partnership initiatives and product launches.
Represent Mastercard in industry forums, workshops, and strategic discussions with C-suite executives across partner organizations.
- Qualifications & Experience
- Experience
10-15 years of market experience, preferably in banking and payments.
Proven track record in business development, strategic alliances, and partnership management.
Experience in product management, portfolio management, and P&L ownership. - Exposure to digital UI/UX and business model innovation is a plus.
- Industry Knowledge
- Strong understanding of the financial services industry and familiarity with non-FI sectors such as fintech, retail, telco, and insurance.
- Skills
Strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into execution.
Excellent communication and presentation skills in both Vietnamese and English.
Ability to influence and engage senior stakeholders, including C-suite executives.
Self-driven, persuasive, and execution-focused attitude. - Strong coordination and cooperation skills to work across local and regional teams.
- Education
Bachelor's degree required.
MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.
