Mass General Brigham relies on a wide range of professionals, including doctors, nurses, business people, tech experts, researchers, and systems analysts to advance our mission. As a not-for-profit, we support patient care, research, teaching, and community service, striving to provide exceptional care. We believe that high-performing teams drive groundbreaking medical discoveries and invite all applicants to join us and experience what it means to be part of Mass General Brigham.
Job Summary:
At Spaulding, we aim to apply research results and new ideas to patient care as quickly as possible. As the principal teaching hospital of the Harvard Medical School Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, new ideas and a passion for innovation are part of our makeup. This academic affiliation and combined resources allow us to maintain a vigorous research agenda and operate ongoing clinical trials. These and other endeavors enhance Spaulding’s treatment programs, with clinical research results that often quickly find their way to the bedside.
The post-doctoral fellowship is within the INSPIRE lab at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital. The fellow will actively study the neuromechanics of whole limb movements in able-bodied persons and persons with spinal cord injury (SCI). Our research team examines the enduring effects of novel treatments on the neuromechanics of limb movements after SCI through rigorous experimentation, electrophysiology, and modeling.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in one or more of the following areas: neuroscience, rehabilitation, and/or engineering. Strong quantitative and experimental skills are required. The position is available for up to one year, with an option to renew this training provided adequate progress is made and the project funding is continued. The work will be conducted in a highly interdisciplinary research environment composed of physiologists, clinicians, neuroscientists, and engineers. In addition to our primary research program, there will be several opportunities to interact and collaborate with faculty in the Harvard Medical School, Massachusetts General Hospital, MIT, and Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital.
The Postdoctoral Research Fellow position is time-limited. It is intended to be a short-term training position, followed by a move to an independent investigator or research career position. The maximum term of service for a Research Fellow appointment is five (5) years.
