This position is intended to be filled internally and to fulfill a need on evening shift.
Job Summary:
Summary: To perform accurate, precise testing to assist in patient care in a timely manner. To assist in all functions of laboratory services.
Medical Laboratory Scientists are required to have ASCP certification within one year of hire. MVH will accept AMT Certification in lieu of ASCP certification for current workers who possess AMT certification as of the ratification date, and for new hires who possess AMT certification at the time of hire.

Essential Functions:
-Performs laboratory tests using established procedures in accordance with State and Federal regulations.
-Good blood collection techniques for venipuncture, capillary collection, and pediatric collection.
-Reviewing results and logs for technical or clerical oversights/errors.
-Generate complete and accurate reports.
-Verify, report, and document alarm values in a timely manner.
-Participates in QA/QI studies as necessary.
-Performs and review Quality Control Values.
-Helps maintain inventory of technical supplies.
-Performs and documents daily and periodic maintenance.
-Performs calibrations when necessary.
-Troubleshoots and document instrument problems.
-Use “Hot lines” and call in service when necessary.
-Willingness to help others with their assigned duties when needed.
-Flexibility to changes, duties, call, shifts when emergency situations arise.
-Maintains good working relations with areas of service physicians, outside facilities, and the general public.
-Maintains a satisfactory attendance record.
-Works well independently.
-Satisfactory availability and response when on call.
-Complies with department and hospital policy and procedure in accordance with State and Federal regulation.
-Complies with OSHA standards and universal precautions.
-Performs all duties when requested to assist the manager, pathologist, and CEO.
-Assists in training and guiding new staff technologists.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's Degree Biology required or Bachelor's Degree Clinical Laboratory Sciences required or Bachelor's Degree Laboratory Sciences required.

- ASCP Certified Medical Technologist MLT, MT, MLA, Histologists

Experience:
At least two years experience in a Clinical Laboratory 2-3 years required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Must be able to read, write legibly, speak clearly and understand the English language.
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action in a timely fashion.
- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with staff, patients, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
- Must possess the willingness to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel and the general public.
