Bulfinch Temporary Service is currently hiring for a temp Dietitian to work at MGH and cover a leave of absence. The role is M-F 8-430 to start end of May through August 2026. Please note this role is temporary in nature and not benefitted. Apply Now!
Job Summary:
Responsible for delivery of nutrition care to transplant patients and live organ donors in outpatient settings. Provides individual and group medical nutrition therapy to a wide variety of patients across multiple diagnoses including but not limited to: diabetes, hypertension, lipid disorders, obesity, pre and post transplant as well as living donors, GI disorders, eating disorders and others. Able to triage and counsel patients, and document care in the medical record. Attends all department and Transplant Center meetings as required. Develops, implements, and evaluates outcome information and education materials on an on-going basis.
Qualifications:
Pre-transplant Evaluation: The Transplant Clinical Dietitian – Outpatient will complete a nutritional assessment for each potential transplant recipient. Live organ donors will receive nutrition assessment as referred. The outcome of this evaluation will be communicated to the Transplant multidisciplinary team and documented in the patient's medical record.
The evaluation may include:
- Nutritional assessment/intervention
- Nutritional education
- Nutrition Support Recommendations
Selection/Care Planning: A Transplant Clinical Dietitian – Outpatient will participate in multidisciplinary care and selection of transplant recipients/donors, including participation in Multidisciplinary Selection Committee meetings and multidisciplinary discharge planning.
Re-assessment: A Transplant Clinical Dietitian is available to re-assess transplant candidates based on the patient’s needs and status as identified during the evaluation.
Documentation: All assessments will be communicated to the Transplant care team and documented in the recipient’s/donor’s medical record.
Specific responsibilities related to the above will include:
- Obtains comprehensive data on individual patient’s personal, medical/health histories including anthropometric, lab results, medications, demographics and activity/exercise.
- Obtains detailed nutrition history utilizing appropriate interviewing techniques.
- Determines nutrient and energy requirements.
- Identifies and reviews possible food/medication/herb interactions.
- Analyzes and interprets nutrition and health assessment data, identifies nutrition related problems and sets priorities for nutrition intervention.
- Utilizes appropriate counseling techniques to work w/patients to formulate nutrition care plans. Establishes appropriate follow up plans and continues counseling patients to obtain appropriate clinical outcomes.
- Documents nutrition and health assessment/follow up in medical record according to department/Transplant Center standards.
- Meets productivity standards in counseling and documentation.
- Markets services to other health care providers and practices through individual communication
- Conducts groups
- Participates in Department, Transplant Center, and Hospital sponsored events (health fairs, etc.)
- Precepts and instructs dietetic interns during their ambulatory care experience and participates in their performance evaluation.
- Is knowledgeable and compliant in all Transplant Program, MGH Transplant Center, hospital, State and Federal regulatory requirements, including hospital policy and procedures (where applicable to the performance of the job), UNOS and CMS regulations, the Joint Commission, and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).
