Job Summary:

The Physical Therapist – Clinical Supervisor is a hybrid clinical and leadership role within a community-based outpatient orthopedic clinic. The position involves approximately 75–90% direct patient care, with the remaining time focused on supporting clinical operations through staff mentorship, supervision, and professional development. This role works closely with clinical staff to promote high-quality patient care, strong patient access, and team engagement. It is well suited for an experienced clinician interested in developing leadership skills while maintaining an active clinical practice. Position Summary

This role is an excellent opportunity for a clinician who is interested in developing supervisory and leadership skills within an outpatient rehabilitation setting. While prior formal management experience is not required, candidates should demonstrate leadership potential through experiences such as mentoring colleagues, supervising students, participating in clinic initiatives, or supporting team operations.

This is a hybrid clinical and supervisory role. Approximately75–95% of the position will involve direct patient care within a primarily community-based orthopedic clinic. The remaining time will be dedicated to supporting the clinical team through staff supervision, mentorship, and professional development.

The individual in this role will work closely with clinical staff to promote high-quality patient care, support clinical growth, and ensure appropriate patient volume and access. The role also plays an important part in fostering a positive and engaged clinical environment focused on collaboration, professional development, and excellence in patient care.

This position is well suited for a clinician looking to grow into a leadership role while continuing to maintain strong clinical practice.

Education

Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) preferred

Can experience substitute for degree: No

Licenses and Credentials (Preferred)

  • Physical Therapist – State License - required

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification

Experience

  • 1–3 years of experience supervising, mentoring, or training staff preferred

  • 3–5 years of experience working as a Physical Therapist in a hospital, rehabilitation, or ambulatory setting required

Supervisory experience may include formal management roles or informal leadership activities such as mentoring colleagues, supervising students, leading projects, or supporting clinic operations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions

  • Strong patient and customer service skills

  • Demonstrated leadership and team development skills

  • Ability to mentor and teach others

  • Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to interact positively with patients, providers, and staff

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • Strong follow-through and ability to resolve issues effectively

  • Ability to foster staff engagement and promote a culture of clinical excellence
