Summary:
Utilizing the nursing process, responsibility for providing for immediate and long-term nursing care needs of patients within the standards of the department, hospital and regulatory agencies.

Essential Functions
-Accurately assesses patients’ needs.
-1 Utilizes multiple data sources to determine actual/potential health problems and functional status.
-Utilizes Recovery Oriented Framework to identify patient strengths.
-2 Performs point of care testing.
-3 Communicates findings effectively to members of the healthcare team.
-4 Documentation reflects response to intervention, demonstrates an understanding of patients’ response to treatment interventions.
-5 Identifies patient behaviors that contribute to the development of a crisis; utilizes non-verbal and verbal techniques to de-escalate crisis situation.
-Accurately plans nursing interventions for assigned patients.
-1 Modifies and individualizes Nursing Plan of Care and protocols.
-2 Participates in the development of the multidisciplinary treatment plan.
-3 Demonstrates ability to prioritize patient care needs.
-4 Partners with patients/families to support recovery goals.
-Provides and implements nursing care interventions.
-1 Establishes a therapeutic alliance with assigned patients.
-2 Demonstrates safe, accurate and timely medication administration using BMV scanning.
-3 Reviews physician orders in a timely manner.
-4 Promotes interventions that provide the least-restrictive alternatives and recovery oriented goals.
-5 Participates in leading patient groups.
-Accurately evaluates the effectiveness of nursing care interventions.
-1 Documentation on the Nursing Plan of Care, protocols, and Assessment Flowsheet reflects response to intervention, demonstrates an understanding of patients’ response to treatment interventions.
-2 Accurately communicates patients’ clinical status at clinical team rounds and change of shift reports.
-3 Utilizes evidence based nursing knowledge to guide practice decisions.
-Provides a leadership role in organizing and providing patient care.
-1 Provides direction and supervision of MHSs.
-Delegate care interventions.
-2 Assumes a leadership role in medical and psychiatric emergencies.
-3 Promotes/provides for critical incident de-briefing following emergency event.
-4 Anticipates acute milieu problems and delegates staff appropriately.
-5 Participates in the training and education of RNs, MHSs, and other healthcare providers.
-Provides for teaching needs of patient and significant others.
-1 Provides health teaching related to patient needs and recovery goals.
-2 Documents teaching in the patient’s record.
-3 Informs treatment team of patient and significant others’ learning needs.
-Maintains a commitment to professional growth and competency.
-1 Completes mandatory in-service requirements.
-2 Maintains competency for treating patient population.
-3 Seeks constructive feedback regarding work performance from peers and professional colleagues.
-4 Identifies strengths and areas for professional/practice development with supervisor.
-Demonstrates effective interpersonal communication.
-1 Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.
-2 Communicates positively, supportively, and with courtesy to the patients and staff.

Other Certificate/Diploma Nursing required or Bachelor's Degree Nursing preferred

Experience:
No experience required; one year medical/psychiatric experience preferred 0-1 year preferred
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Candidate must be a graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
- Requires demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to utilize the nursing process and to work collaboratively.
- MR safety certification.
- Standard blood draw procedures (excluding IV placement). (Required).
- Ability to work as part of a team. (Required).
- All employees must possess basic computer skills to use a variety of electronic or online systems for communication, clinical and administrative purposes. (Required).
