Pay Range:
Entry level LPN rate starts at 28 per hour, pay is commensurate with experience.

ABOUT BROOKSIDE COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER:
Brookside is a licensed Community Health Center of Brigham and Women's Hospital and provides multi-disciplinary, comprehensive care with services in a range of medical areas including: Adult, Family and Pediatric Primary Care,
OB/GYN, Family Planning, Dental/Oral Surgery, Nutrition/WIC, Behavioral Health and Specialty Medicine (Cardiology, Pulmonology and Nephrology). Brookside also has a Laboratory onsite, Financial Counseling and Community Resource
Specialists. Each year, more than 11,000 patients from Jamaica Plain, the city of Boston and surrounding areas use these services, producing more than 69,000 visits to Brookside each year. Most of Brookside’s patient population are Spanish speaking and socioeconomically underserved. The health center's services, guided by equity, are provided by a bilingual English/Spanish medical and professional staff. Brookside is a teaching site for Harvard Medical School, Mass General Institute of Health Professionals School of Nursing, Harvard Dental School, Boston University Dental School, as well as other Boston area health care professional programs.
Job Summary:
Summary:
Under supervision of a Nurse Manager or licensed clinical leader and in collaboration with other team members, provides direct and indirect patient care in accordance with the scope of practice.

Essential Functions
-Interviews patient about current problems, medications, allergies and reviews medical record for pertinent previous and current information.
-Measure and record patients' vital signs, such as height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, or respiration.
-Provide basic patient care or treatments, such as, dressing wounds, treating bedsores, giving enemas or douches, rubbing with alcohol, massaging, performing catheterizations, routine immunizations, and/or nebulizer treatments and visual acuity test.
-Participates in patient treatment regimen, including administering medications (under the supervision of a physician and registered nurse).
-Performs variety of office responsibilities: answers phones and takes messages and performs triage within scope of licensed practical nursing practice in an accurate and timely manner.
-Collect samples, such as blood, urine, or sputum from patients, and perform routine laboratory tests on samples.
-Prepare patients for examinations, tests, or treatments and explain procedures.
-Help patients with bathing, dressing, maintaining personal hygiene, moving in bed, or standing and walking.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Education: Graduate of an accredited Licensed Practical Nursing Program.
Licenses and Credentials:

Licenses/Certifications: Current LPN Licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts required.

Basic Life Support preferred.
Experience:
- Nursing experience preferred.
Language skills

Spanish Language strongly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Basic knowledge of patient education: interviewing and listening skills, teaching and engagement techniques, understanding of health-related conditions and information.

Ability to accurately perform vital signs and obtain pertinent health information including but not limited to; temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, height, and weight.

Ability to administer medication; routes of administration may include injections, intravenous and oral medications.

Knowledge and ability to perform specific procedures and tests as appropriate to the clinical setting.

Ability to communicate in a professional, courteous, clear and concise manner.
