Senior Clinic Practice Assistant — Palliative Care & Geriatric Medicine

About the Role
In this role, you'll work within a strong team-based model that includes social work, nursing, NPs, and MDs, all dedicated to delivering exceptional patient-centered care.
Performs administrative functions to support smooth and efficient clinical service and practice operations. Performs administrative duties related to patient visits including scheduling, check-in, check-out duties (performs all duties of the other levels at highest proficiency level).

Responsibilities
- Make patient appointments and maintain appointment records
- Assist callers with routine inquiries and triage matters appropriately
- Process patient billing forms and scan documents to patient medical record (EPIC)
- Act as "Super User" for scheduling, registration and billing systems
- Provide assistance and training to others in these areas
- Perform more complex or specialized functions (i.e. surgical scheduling, schedule changes/blocking) at more advanced competency level
- Handle, screen and/or take messages related to prior authorizations, provider questions, prescription refills, and test results
- Provide functional guidance to Office and Practice Assistants
- In conjunction with Supervisor oversee daily activities of practice staff
- May be required to accept co-payments
- Additional responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required
- Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No
Experience
- Office experience 3-5 years required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong technology and MS Office skills – Advanced Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Knowledge of office operations and standards and understanding of office procedures including filing, copying, scanning, printing and faxing
- Ability to use phone system and manage more non-routine phone calls and solve routine issues as appropriate
- Communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience and talking to others to convey information effectively
- Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents, to correspond and communicate with others clearly and effectively (including composing/editing e-mail, memos and letters), and to take complete and accurate messages
- Managing one's own time and the time of others
- Well organized and good time management skills to manage multiple tasks effectively, follow established protocols, and work within systems
- Ability to proofread and edit written documents
