MPC's Global Marine organization is offering a high-impact Commercial Marine Operator Intern role for students who want real responsibility in global vessel and cargo operations. You will join a team at the center of domestic and international waterborne logistics, helping move energy products safely and efficiently around the world.​

Responsibilities:

As part of the Commercial Marine Operations team, you will:

  • Support real-time voyages for Marathon time-chartered vessels, helping manage day-to-day operations and logistics for waterborne cargoes.​
  • Coordinate with Captains, Brokers, Chartering, Trading, Scheduling, Agents, Tug providers, Bunker Vendors, and Terminals to keep ships and cargoes on track.​
  • Gain exposure to Marine Vetting, Port Management, and the commercial aspects of the Global Marine business.​
  • Split your time between job shadowing, hands-on voyage management work, and a focused project that drives value for the team.​

You will report to the Commercial Marine Operations Manager and work closely with a dedicated mentor committed to creating a positive, engaging, and educational experience.​

Skills Gained:

During this internship, you can expect to:

  • Develop a strong understanding of commercial marine operations, shipping logistics, and how decisions impact real-world voyages.​
  • Strengthen key professional skills such as verbal and written communication, prioritization, multi-tasking, analytics, problem solving, risk management, decision-making, and teamwork.

Qualifications:

  • Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor's degree in a Maritime-related field.
  • Concurrent enrollment in a Bachelor's degree seeking program for the duration of the experience.
  • Have Sophomore, Junior, or Senior status at the time of the internship (Summer 2026).​
  • Strong academic performance.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the US on a full-time indefinite basis without the need for employment visa sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Be able to work on-site in San Antonio, TX for the full Summer 2026 term (Monday–Friday, 8-hour days, 40 hours per week.).
  • Be able to complete limited travel, up to one week of overnight travel during the internship; therefore, a valid driver's license is required.
  • MIN - $24.38 per hour / MAX - $28.44 per hour
