POSITION SUMMARY:

MPC’s Galveston Bay Refinery, located in Texas City, TX is currently accepting applications for an experienced Machinist. The schedule for this position will be a 4-10 schedule (Monday-Thursday) or a rotating shift schedule. A Machinist will support the operation of the refinery by properly maintaining and repairing refinery mechanical systems. This allows for safe, compliant, and reliable refinery operation to support the refinery’s strategic business goals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Have inside/outside Machinist or Millwright experience.

• Be skilled in alignment techniques (reverse dial/laser alignments), pump/compressor/turbine troubleshooting and repair.

• Be proficient at running a lathe and performing line boring on horizontal and vertical boring mills.

• Have ability to thread (standard, metric, and acme).

• Have versatility to make all refinery equipment parts, such as shafts, wear rings, bushings, and other related components.

• Be proficient at using all measuring tools including scales, micrometers, snap gauges, digital height gauges, and thread micrometers.

• Be able to read blueprints.

• Possess a working knowledge of metallurgy.

• Be safety-minded at all times.

• Foster a positive attitude, willingness to collaborate and team with others to accomplish work efficiently and to high quality standards.

• Be willing to work overtime as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.

• Valid driver's license is required.

• Minimum 2 years of directly related experience as a Machinist/Millwright in the Petrochemical industry is required.

• Minimum 5 years of directly related experience as a Machinist/Millwright in the Petrochemical industry is preferred.

PAY & BENEFITS

Starting hourly pay for this position is between $45.24 - $55.36 and is typically based on relevant prior work experience, qualifications, and union contract wage rates. Additional increases are based on demonstrated qualification/proficiency and/or years of experience after being hired. Annual increases are scheduled.

The position includes a competitive wage, comprehensive benefits package including a company matched 401k, pension, and medical benefits.
