Position Summary:

Position Summary:

You will be part of the APM Terminals Regional Procurement team while being based at the Ahmedabad office of Gujarat Pipavav Port Ltd. (GPPL) with regular post visits. In this role, you will serve as the Assistant Procurement Manager for GPPL, reporting to the Head of Procurement, GPPL, while also operating as an integral member of the Maersk Global Procurement organisation.

This position provides a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of local terminal operations and a global procurement ecosystem.

What are the responsibilities of this role?

As an Assistant Procurement Manager, you will:

  • Lead day‑to‑day procurement operations at GPPL, ensuring timely sourcing, contracting, and supplier engagement.
  • Run end‑to‑end RFQs and negotiations, leveraging both local and global supplier bases.
  • Partner closely with operations, engineering, finance, and HSSE to understand requirements and deliver value beyond cost.
  • Build the annual procurement plan for GPPL and drive execution with a focus on savings, service reliability, and compliance.
  • Analyse spend and market trends to identify opportunities for cost optimization, risk mitigation, and supplier development.
  • Support global category teams in large tenders, strategic initiatives, and system implementations—acting as the local anchor for execution.
  • Embed Maersk’s global procurement processes, governance, and digital tools in all activities.

Position Requirements:

  • 8 + years of relevant track record in procurement, supply chain management, project management
  • A good understanding of processes within purchasing and contracting (both domestic and import) and experience in implementing them
  • Accomplished project management skills to drive sourcing projects and the transformational part of the role
  • Experience in end to end P2P process with inventory management.
  • Efficient negotiation and contracting skills, effective stakeholder management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and competent presentation skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively across geographical and cultural boundaries
  • Ability to navigate in large matrix organizations
  • A Bachelors or master’s degree in engineering, logistics, supply chain management is preferred
  • Ability to, independently and as part of a team, successfully complete assigned tasks with excellent results while meeting agreed deadlines
  • Technical ability to understand the requirement and identify the right sources / alternate sources
  • Ability to manage internal & external stakeholders efficiently
  • Willingness to travel to terminal bi-weekly and supplier locations locally based on business requirements
  • Knowledge about six sigma tools & lean tools will be add on
