About the Role:
APM Terminals is looking for a Key Client Manager to strengthen its Global Key Client team. The person in this role will drive long‑term strategic partnerships with European‑based ocean carriers while safeguarding short‑term performance outcomes.
This role acts as both Global Ambassador for APMT across our terminal portfolio and Voice of the Customer inside the organisation. It’s a role for someone who enjoys building trusted, collaborative relationships, navigating complexity with ease, and shaping solutions that create real impact for customers and terminals alike.

Key Responsibilities
The Key Client Manager holds a broad and strategic mandate, including:
-
Owning and developing global relationships with assigned carrier customers
-
Enabling executive engagement across both organisations and supporting value‑creating dialogue
-
Mapping and expanding headquarter relationships across commercial, operational, procurement and strategic functions
-
Leading the Global Terminal Partnering agenda, including Port Hours Saved initiatives, sustainability ambitions and product development
-
Ensuring clarity, accountability and performance against contractual agreements
-
Providing strategic perspectives and negotiation guidance to regions and commercial teams
-
Co‑creating customer strategies and compelling value propositions with input from Marketing and Commercial
-
Coordinating global, regional and terminal-level engagement plans with relevant stakeholders
-
Supporting consistent delivery of the promised customer experience across terminals
-
Developing deep market, industry and customer insight and translating these into tangible opportunities
-
Acting as a key member of cross-functional deal teams for major contract renewals and negotiations
-
Promoting and applying Lean tools to elevate customer experience and team performance
What We’re Looking For
-
A transport and logistics enthusiast with strong commercial and strategic acumen, preferably with 10+ years of experience in shipping, terminals, or ocean carrier environments
-
Background in network, capacity, or execution functions is an advantage
-
Strong understanding of global shipping and terminal markets
-
Fluency in English; German beneficial
-
Exceptional communication skills, with an ability to tailor engagement to both senior stakeholders and operational teams
-
Proven relationship builder with a collaborative, empathetic approach
-
Skilled negotiator with experience shaping customer‑centric solutions
-
Comfortable navigating matrix organisations and connecting opportunities across functions and geographies
-
Keen analytical thinker who translates complexity into clear, actionable storylines
-
Resilient, adaptable, and energized by fast‑moving environments
-
Ability to travel regularly for customer and team engagement
