Job Description:
The position of Senior Legal Counsel Litigation will be responsible for managing, supervising, and strategizing all litigation and dispute‑related matters involving the company and review of Contract pertaining to LNS business (Logistics). This role requires strong legal acumen specifically in marine, customs, labour, property and corporate law, negotiation skills, and the ability to coordinate with external counsel while ensuring that litigation strategy aligns with the organization’s business objectives and risk appetite.
Key Responsibilities
1.
Litigation Strategy & Management:
Develop and execute litigation strategies for ongoing and potential disputes (civil cum criminals' cases).
Manage all civil, criminal, commercial, regulatory, labour, marine, customs and arbitration matters involving the company.
Conduct risk assessments on litigation exposure and provide timely guidance to leadership and the Company.
Work on recovery matters and to ensure to find resolutions and ways in having the bad debt recovered from the defaulter.
Review and advise on the viability of suits, appeals, settlements, and alternative dispute resolution.
To ensure that the files of the cases are updated and maintained with all court proceeding filed.

Coordination with External Counsel:
Identify, brief, and manage external law firms and advocates.
Review pleadings, written statements, affidavits, petitions, complaints applications, and other court documents drafted by external counsel.
Monitor performance, costs, and timelines for all engaged legal service providers.

Internal Advisory & Stakeholder Collaboration:
Work closely with business units, HR, compliance, sales, finance, and operations teams to gather facts, evidence, and documents.
Provide proactive guidance on litigation‑related risks in business decisions.
Train internal teams on legal processes, regulatory developments, and litigation‑related SOPs.
4. Compliance, Documentation & Record Keeping
Maintain detailed records in files/soft copies of all litigation matters, hearings, and outcomes.
Oversee timely filing of legal responses, affidavits, and other submissions.
Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, statutory deadlines, and internal legal policies.
5. Dispute Prevention
Identify patterns in disputes and propose preventive measures to reduce litigation.
Draft and review notices, reply notices, and responses to regulators or authorities.
Support drafting/review of contracts to mitigate future dispute risks.
6.
Regulatory & Government Interaction:
Liaise with government departments, regulatory authorities, and law enforcement as needed.
Respond to enquiries, investigations, inspections, and show‑cause notices.
7. Contract Review
Drafting and Review of Contracts pertaining to Logistics related services
Negotiation with the Customers Contract review.
Follow the SOP/Policies set by the Company on closure of the Contract
Ensure that the Contract are reviewed through the Contract Review Portal
Closure of the Contract review within the prescribed TAT
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Law (LL.B./L.L.M) from a recognised institution specifically with an expertise in Marine law.
10-15 years of post‑qualification experience, including substantial experience in litigation.
Prior in‑house experience from Logistics Industry is preferred.
Expertise in civil, commercial, labour, contractual, or regulatory litigation (customize based on company need).
Skills & Competencies
Strong understanding of court procedures, arbitration, and regulatory processes.
Excellent drafting, analytical, and negotiation skills.
Ability to handle high-pressure situations and complex legal issues.
Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
High professional integrity, judgement, and attention to detail.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Timely and effective management of litigation matters/contract review.
Reduction of legal risks and dispute frequency.
Quality of legal advice and alignment with business objectives.
Cost optimisation in managing external counsel.
Successful litigation outcomes or favourable settlements.
