Job Purpose/summary
The Dispatch Senior Specialist is responsible for ensuring the continuous and efficient flow of freight by managing and resolving any operational issues drivers may encounter. This role focuses on overseeing the timely pickup and return of loaded and empty containers, coordinating movements between warehouses and terminals, and ensuring all necessary resources are in place. By maintaining direct communication with drivers, terminals, and clients, the Dispatch Specialist ensures that logistical operations run smoothly, minimizing delays and optimizing transportation efficiency.
Key responsibilities
List the 8-12 key responsibilities a. Plan and coordinate freight movements, ensuring efficient assignments to drivers.
b. Develop and oversee logistics operations to guarantee the timely pickup of loaded and empty containers.
c. Monitor and confirm that drivers assigned from the previous day are actively working on their designated tasks.
d. Schedule and manage appointments for cargo pickup and delivery at the port.
e. Arrange and secure chassis reservations as needed to support driver operations.
f. Maintain effective communication with clients, terminals, and drivers to ensure the successful completion of required movements.
g. Request road service and chassis maintenance when needed.
h. Escalate whatever issue the driver communicates when providing assistance if needed.
i. Use optimizer as secondary tool for planning.
j. Update customer’s TMS.
k. Update and send customer container recaps.
l. Report container damages.
m. Update the Daily Recap and Daily Hand-Off reports.
n. Assign loads and empties in Trinium.
Required experience & skills
a. Graduate or Postgraduate of at least 4-5 years in operations, financial analysis, Shipping and logistics business .
b. Should be willing to work in Full night shifts.
c. Excellent communication skills (English) – Fluent Oral & Written
d. Fluent with Windows Applications & Strong MS Excel skills (v-lookup, Pivots, Complex formulae) and MS PowerPoint.
e. Analytical & Problem-Solving ability for trouble shooting & root cause analysis
f. Willingness to build on and experiment with data & Maersk’s platforms, in addition to our own services.
g. Ability to effectively communicate data-driven solutions and recommendations to business stakeholders.
h. Passionate to lead initiatives, driven to work with creativity and innovation.
i. Ambitious and result oriented self-starter on initiatives and strong drive on change management.
j. Mindset to co-create and co-own initiatives.
k. Proficiency in Power BI, Python or R is an added advantage.
