We are seeking a Business Development Manager (BDM) who will drive Maersk’s Contract Logistics growth agenda in Senegal by identifying, developing, and converting new business opportunities across warehousing, and distribution in Senegal and Ivory Coast.
The role is accountable for building a healthy pipeline, shaping customer solutions, and securing sustainable revenue aligned with Maersk’s Integrated Logistics strategy. This position requires strong commercial acumen, deep knowledge of warehousing processes, and the ability to translate customer needs into actionable and scalable solutions.

A Business Development Manager who will prospect for new clients and build new business pipeline by networking, cold calling, or any other means of generating interest from potential clients. He/she must then plan persuasive approaches and pitches that will convince potential clients to do business with Maersk Contract Logistics. The BDM must have:

Key Responsibilities:
Business Growth & Pipeline Development
-
Build, qualify, and convert a strong pipeline of Contract Logistics opportunities in Senegal.

Proactively prospect and engage strategic accounts in key verticals (retail, FMCG etc.).
-
Lead customer discovery sessions to identify supply chain pain points and map tailored CL solutions.
-
Drive end‑to‑end deal cycles: lead qualification, solution design support, commercials, proposal development, negotiation, and contract signature.
Solutioning & Cross‑Functional Collaboration
-
Partner closely with Solution Design, Operations, Finance and Procurement to develop competitive, executable, and profitable solutions.

Participate in solution workshops and site assessments for new warehouse setups, expansions, or customer onboarding.

Ensure feasibility, operational readiness, pricing accuracy, and risk mitigation across proposed solutions.

Ensure structured handover of closed‑won deals to Implementation and Operations teams.
Market Intelligence & Strategy Execution
-
Identify strategic opportunities including Free Trade Zones, logistics parks, bonded warehousing, e‑commerce fulfillment, and value‑added services.

Provide structured market insights to support country and Area Contract Logistics growth strategies.

Attend industry functions such as events and conferences and provide feedback and information on market and trends

Identify opportunities for campaigns, services, and distribution channels that will lead to an increase in sales

Use knowledge of the market and competitors, identify and develop the company’s unique selling propositions and differentiators
Customer Engagement & Key Account Management

Build senior‑level customer relationships that position Maersk as a trusted supply chain advisor.

Lead customer workshops and solution presentations with strong storytelling and consultative selling.
-
Identify cross‑sell and upsell opportunities across Maersk’s integrated logistics portfolio
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
Someone with:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, or related fields.
-
Master’s degree or additional certifications (APICS, CSCMP, logistics diplomas) are an added advantage.
-
4+ years of experience in Business Development, Sales, or Commercial roles within warehousing, or distribution.
-
Proven track record of selling Contract Logistics or complex B2B supply chain solutions.
-
Experience in the West Africa market
-
Operational experience in Contract Logistics strongly preferred.
-
Strong network with C‑level and operational decision-makers in target industries.
Skills & Capabilities
-
Strong understanding of warehousing design, cost drivers, operations, value‑added services, and distribution models.

Excellent commercial negotiation and contract management skills.
-
Analytical mindset with the ability to translate customer challenges into feasible solutions.
-
Strong communication, presentation, and storytelling skills.
-
High level of ownership, autonomy, and accountability.
-
Fluent in French and English
