About the Role

Lending Club is a mission-driven company focused on improving the financial health of millions of members. We’re looking for a Director, Business Operations & Excellence to serve as a strategic and operational leader across the business.

In this role, you’ll partner closely with senior leaders across Product, Finance, Risk, Legal and Compliance, Technology, Operations, and Go-To-Market teams to drive operational rigor, business planning, and execution excellence. You’ll own critical cross-functional initiatives, establish scalable operating mechanisms, and help translate strategy into measurable outcomes.

This is a high-visibility role with meaningful exposure to senior leadership and enterprise-wide initiatives, offering the opportunity to shape how Lending Club operates at scale while balancing growth, profitability, and risk in a highly regulated fintech environment.

What You'll Do

Strategic Planning & Execution

  • Partner with executive and functional leaders to drive annual and quarterly planning, including goal setting, OKRs, and performance tracking
  • Translate enterprise and business unit strategy into clear operating plans with defined milestones, owners, and success metrics
  • Lead high-priority strategic initiatives such as new product launches, operating model changes, efficiency programs, and regulatory-driven efforts

Business Performance & Analytics

  • Own the business operating cadence, including weekly and monthly reviews, executive readouts, and KPI dashboards
  • Develop and maintain metrics that track business health across growth, profitability, efficiency, and risk
  • Identify performance gaps and partner cross-functionally to drive corrective actions

Operating Model & Process Excellence

  • Design and improve end-to-end business processes to support scale, speed, and compliance
  • Partner with Finance and FP&A on budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation aligned to strategic priorities
  • Drive operational discipline in a complex environment spanning multiple products, bank partnerships, and regulatory requirements

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Serve as a key connector across Product, Engineering, Risk, Compliance, Legal, Marketing, and Operations
  • Influence without authority to align stakeholders, resolve tradeoffs, and accelerate decision-making
  • Support leadership communications, including executive presentations and board-level materials, as needed

Team & Capability Building

  • Build and lead a high-performing Business Operations function over time
  • Hire, coach, and develop talent while establishing best practices, playbooks, and operating standards

About You

  • 10 years of experience in business operations, strategy, consulting, finance, or related roles with increasing leadership responsibility
  • Experience operating in a highly regulated environment such as fintech, financial services, banking, or payments
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear insights
  • Proven success leading cross-functional initiatives in fast-paced, ambiguous environments
  • Strong executive presence and ability to influence senior stakeholders
  • Willingness to dive into the details to understand complex issues and drive execution
  • Experience building and leading teams
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field; or equivalent work experience

Preferred

  • Prior experience at a fintech, marketplace, or technology-enabled financial services company
  • Background in management consulting, investment banking, or corporate strategy combined with operating experience
  • Familiarity with Lending Club’s core products (personal loans, auto refinance, deposits) or similar consumer financial products
