About the Role

Lending Club is looking for a Sr Threat Intelligence & Response Engineer to help detect, investigate, and proactively defend against security threats facing the Bank.

In this role, you’ll lead incident investigation and response efforts, develop detection capabilities, and strengthen our overall security posture. You’ll combine hands-on technical expertise with strong analytical skills to identify emerging threats, improve monitoring effectiveness, and drive continuous improvement across our security operations.

What You'll Do

  • Conduct threat intelligence gathering, analysis, and proactive threat hunting
  • Develop and refine SIEM-based detection logic in response to evolving threat landscapes
  • Investigate security alerts and lead incident response efforts, including containment and remediation
  • Perform root cause analysis and recommend control improvements to prevent recurrence
  • Develop, document, and enhance incident response runbooks and operational procedures
  • Improve detection and response workflows through automation and process optimization
  • Analyze and report on security event metrics and trends to inform leadership
  • Partner with internal teams to deploy and maintain security controls
  • Manage relationships with external security vendors and partners

About You

  • 6+ years of experience in threat intelligence, incident response, or security operations
  • Strong hands-on experience with SIEM, EDR, DLP, and related security technologies
  • Experience developing detection rules and maintaining monitoring alerts
  • Proven ability to investigate complex security events and perform root cause analysis
  • Solid understanding of enterprise-scale incident response best practices
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience working in financial services or other regulated environments
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field; or equivalent work experience
  • Programming experience in Python, Golang, or similar languages (nice to have)

Work Location San Francisco:

The above locations are eligible offices for this role. The locations have been determined to foster in-person collaboration with this role’s team or the related business lines. We utilize a hybrid work model, and our teams are in-office Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. In-person attendance is essential for this role’s success, and remote placement will not be considered. Lending Club offers relocation, based on actual job level.

Time Zone Requirements Primarily PT:

While the position will primarily work local hours, Lending Club is headquartered in Pacific Time and our ideal candidate will be flexible working across time zones when necessary.

Travel Requirements As needed travel to Lending Club offices and/or other locations, as needed.

Compensation:

The target base salary range for this position is 176,000-205,000. The base salary of the role will be determined by job-related knowledge, experience, education, skills, and location. Base salary is just one part of Lending Club’s Total Rewards package. You may also be eligible for long-term awards (equity) and an annual bonus (which is based on company performance, employee performance and eligible earnings).
