Leidos is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Manager to serve as a first-line leader within our Mechanical Manufacturing Facility (MMF) in Huntsville, AL. This role directly manages a team of 12-15 Manufacturing Engineers, Weld Engineers, and Tool Designers supporting CNC machined components and precision assemblies. The team is responsible for process planning, tooling/fixturing development, MBOM creation, and Solumina MES process plans.
The Manufacturing Engineering Manager is accountable for daily execution, workload prioritization, performance management, and delivery of accurate, manufacturable engineering packages that support production schedules.

Key Responsibilities
Directly manage and develop a team of approximately 12-15, including Manufacturing Engineers, Weld Engineers, and Tool Designers, from intern to senior levels.
Establish clear priorities, workload balance, and execution discipline across the ME organization.
Ensure timely and accurate completion of MBOMs, MES process plans, work instructions, and tooling packages.
Drive consistent application of GD&T, manufacturability best practices, and machining process controls.
Partner closely with CNC Programming, Quality, Production, Supply Chain, and Program Management to ensure alignment and shop floor readiness.
Support continuous improvement initiatives and structured problem-solving efforts (RCCA, Lean, 5S, VSM).
Eliminate single points of failure through cross-training, documentation maturity, and workload visibility.
Reinforce and mature standard engineering processes in collaboration with senior leadership.
Manage team schedules, performance expectations and stakeholder communication.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering or related field.
Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing engineering experience, primarily in machining-focused environments.
Minimum 2+ years of direct people leadership experience.
Strong technical understanding of CNC machining, tooling/fixture design, process planning and GD&T.
Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and deliver against production schedules.
Reside in or be willing to relocate to North Alabama.
Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess or meet the eligibility to obtain (and be able to maintain) a Secret Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in aerospace/defense manufacturing.
Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, PFMEA, or CI methodologies.
Working knowledge of ISO/AS9100 quality systems.
Experience with Solumina, Costpoint, Solidworks, and Windchill EPLM.
Experience leading engineering teams supporting high-mix, low volume machining environments.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $92,300.00 - $166,850.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
