Job responsibilities:
Managerial and Leadership Responsibilities:
-
Oversees and facilitates the performance and operational excellence of the laboratory departments at the site, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
-
Orchestrates and fosters collaborative synergies across the laboratory’s technical departments, enabling seamless and effective production processes.
-
Provides comprehensive oversight and governance of all support functions to maintain consistent and high-quality management practices across all operational areas.
-
Strategically ensures the availability of requisite resources—personnel, equipment, and infrastructure—to meet rigorous quality standards, client deadlines, and production timelines.

Partners closely with the Vice President of Global Laboratory Operations to develop and execute strategic initiatives aimed at elevating the global laboratory network’s operational efficacy in delivering premier testing services.
Strategic Planning and Business Development:
-
Leads the formulation of the site’s operating budget and contributes to the capital budget planning process, ensuring resources align with the delivery of superior testing services.

Establishes and monitors a consolidated operational scorecard, systematically evaluating the site’s performance and its ability to meet defined deliverables.

Serves as a key liaison for client engagements, audits, and inquiries, ensuring prompt and satisfactory resolution to strengthen client relationships.

Develops and administers comprehensive budgets, technology roadmaps, and tactical operational plans that are congruent with the laboratory's overarching strategic objectives.

Proactively supports workload forecasting, leveraging analytical insights to project site and departmental activity demands with precision.
Performance Monitoring and Evaluation:
-
Drives client satisfaction by implementing robust performance monitoring tools to ensure the accurate delivery of testing services.

Champions staff development through training programs and educational opportunities designed to elevate expertise and technical acumen.

Analyzes production metrics to identify and address adverse trends in collaboration with departmental leadership, escalating critical issues to the VP of Global Laboratory Operations as required.

Ensures the laboratory adheres to all applicable global regulatory standards

Contributes to the VP of Global Laboratory Operations’ evaluation of laboratory management, particularly regarding demonstrated leadership competencies and fostering a collegial, cooperative environment.

Leverages the global laboratory information system to assess operational performance and the quality of laboratory services, generating actionable insights for internal stakeholders.
External Client Engagement:
-
Plays an integral role in business development efforts, articulating the laboratory’s capabilities through written communications, direct client interactions, and representation at scientific conferences.

Cultivates client satisfaction by fostering meaningful, cooperative relationships between the laboratory and cross-functional areas, ensuring timely and effective communication to uphold the highest standards of service excellence.
Minimum qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry or other Life Science.
-
8 years management experience in a clinical laboratory environment; experience in a laboratory performing highly complex testing as defined by the most recent CLIA rules.

Fluent in English
Preferred qualifications:
-
Master’s degree or PhD in a scientific discipline
-
Qualification by the Foederation Analyticorum Medicilanium Helveticorum (FAMH) or by the Foederation Medicorum Helveticoruma (FMH).
