It's more than a job
As a Customs Team Leader at Kuehne+Nagel, your job is to optimise logistics to keep our global supply chains running smoothly. But the impact of your work goes beyond that. In fact, your expertise makes both special and ordinary moments possible for people around the world. For example, your work could ensure that a global product launch happens on time—such as ethically sourced beauty and bath products stocked at local stores for your loved one's valued self-care routine. It's import and export work, but it's also so much more than we imagine.
You as Customs Team Leader will be responsible for processing and overseeing the daily operations of a team of Entry Writers, ensuring the accurate, timely, and compliant processing of import documentation in accordance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and other government agency (PGA) regulations. This role involves a blend of entry writing expertise, quality control, team coordination, mentorship, and communication, serving as a key liaison between the team and the departmental supervisor
How you create impact
- Process US Customs entries for Import Shipments
- Lead and mentor team members on customs brokerage procedures and best practices.
- Review import documents for accuracy and compliance with regulations.
- Assist the team with complex entry processing, including tariff classification and PGA requirements.
- Coordinate with stakeholders to resolve compliance issues and discrepancies.
- Oversee the accurate submission and maintenance of Customs documentation.
- Identify process improvement opportunities and collaborate with the supervisor.
- Act as a liaison between the team and the supervisor, reporting on performance and status
What we would like you to bring
- High school diploma or Bachelor's degree in supply chain management or a related field is needed
- 4+ years of experience in similar role, with at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
- Deep knowledge of international trade regulations, customs procedures, and emerging trade laws
- Knowledge of customs clearance software (e.g., CargoWise, SAP GTS)
- Strong leadership, professional de-escalation skills, and the ability to communicate clearly in fast-paced, multi-cultural environments
- Ability to interpret complex legal language, assess risks, and make data-driven decisions to optimize supply chains.
