It's more than a job

In this IT role, you will manage, develop, and support the technology infrastructure that powers Kuehne+Nagel’s global systems and operations. This contribution is vital to making both special and ordinary moments in the lives of people a reality. In fact, your work enables our teams to deliver fresh fruit, time-sensitive healthcare products and much more to people all around the world. Working in IT at Kuehne+Nagel contributes to more than we imagine.

As a Senior Data Engineer (m/f/d) for our Data Products Architecture team, where we design and implement a data mesh approach as part of our cloud transformation program, you will guide the use of infrastructure, tools, and processes to help our global analytics and operations teams share and leverage data efficiently across the company. If you are passionate about modern data architecture and eager to shape the future of logistics, this could be the ideal next step in your career.

How you create impact

  • Serve as a technical reference for developing data products within a data mesh, supporting operational applications.
  • Contribute hands-on by co-building with data product teams, from initial setup and development through to production integration.

What we would like you to bring

  • Previous experience as a data or backend engineer, ideally within a DevOps culture.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider (preferably AWS).
  • Experience with data pipelines/orchestration for micro-batching and real-time data in big data or data mesh contexts (e.g., Snowflake, Dagster/dbt, Airflow) or with stream processing frameworks (e.g., Kafka Streams, Flink, Spark Structured Streaming, AWS Kinesis) in event-driven or microservices environments, and willingness to grow in the other area.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code tools (GitLab CI, Terraform, Flyway are a plus).
  • Strong focus on building reusable solutions, extracting blueprints, and documenting patterns for future use.
  • Proactive, self-driven, and able to work independently in dynamic environments.
  • Collaborative team player who values working with others and supporting their growth.
  • Strong English communication skills, both spoken and written.

What's in it for you

You will have a direct influence on the future of logistics and IT. Your colleagues are experts who shape the IT industry in Portugal and worldwide. We want you to feel comfortable in your working surroundings. Therefore, we are offering you flexible working hours and mobile working arrangements. We value teamwork, continuous learning, and diversity. Kuehne+Nagel offers you a custom-made career – through individual planning and supervisors who support and advise you in every way. You get supported by many work-life balance offerings and supplementary health insurance.

Logistics shapes everyday life - from the goods we consume to the healthcare we rely on. At Kuehne+Nagel, your work goes beyond logistics; it enables both ordinary and special moments in the lives of people around the world.

As a global leader with a strong heritage and a vision to move the world forward, we offer a safe, stable environment where your career can make a real difference. Whether we help deliver life-saving medicines, develop sustainable transportation solutions or support our local communities, your career will contribute to more than you can imagine.
