It's more than a job

When you work in Freight Logistics and Operations at Kuehne+Nagel, you play a key role in optimising processes and ensuring that inventory and shipments move efficiently. But that is not all. Your work also helps ensure that vital medicines reach patients on time and supports other essential deliveries, from wind turbines to semiconductors. At Kuehne+Nagel, our contribution counts in more ways than we imagine.

As an Operational Care Specialist, you’ll be at the heart of our logistics operations, ensuring that international shipments are coordinated with precision, speed, and reliability. Working as part of our Operational Care Centers, you’ll oversee the full shipment lifecycle—from booking with trusted partners and KN gateways to generating documentation and monitoring progress every step of the way. You’ll play a key role in meeting customer transit time requirements, handling any deviations that arise, and ensuring all activities align with industry regulations and KN standards. Collaboration is central to this role, as you’ll work closely with Customer Care Specialists to meet specific client needs, including carrier selection, routing, and timing. You’ll also be responsible for securing competitive rates and capacity with qualified carriers and partners. This is a great opportunity to join a global logistics leader, where your attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and commitment to excellence will make a real impact on customer satisfaction and operational success.

How you create impact

  • Take ownership of day-to-day operations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and reliability while minimizing overdue tasks and meeting customer expectations.
  • Engage in clear, structured communication with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and transparency.
  • Monitor shipments proactively, resolve deviations, and maintain real-time updates in KN systems—including financial data—for full operational transparency.
  • Analyze and clarify commerce control list instructions when discrepancies arise, ensuring compliance with regulations, routing, transit times, and rate information.
  • Act swiftly to report and escalate operational issues or disputes, keeping leadership informed and operations running smoothly.
  • Work closely with partners, suppliers, warehouses, customs teams, and external stakeholders to ensure seamless logistics execution.
  • Track carrier and partner performance, and raise awareness when service levels fall short—helping us maintain high standards.
  • Partner with the Optimization Team to streamline workflows, automate systems, and reduce manual tasks—driving efficiency and innovation.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving strategies that enhance profitability without compromising service quality.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives and help implement meaningful changes that make a real difference.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Customer Care teams to ensure smooth onboarding of new accounts and a flawless handover from sales to operations.

What we would like you to bring

  • 2+ years of logistics industry, preferably air freight, experience is preferred
  • 1+ years of export experience in freight forwarding for Air.
  • Knowledge of airfreight operations and industry-specific guidelines
  • Strong service-oriented mindset with a proactive, “can-do” attitude
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills when working with suppliers and partners
  • Strict adherence to regulatory requirements and compliance standards
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational abilities
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Flexibility to adapt in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to perform well under pressure and manage multiple priorities
  • Degree in supply chain or logistics is a bonus
  • United States work authorization is required
