Job Description

Job Summary: Seeking an experienced Payroll Manager based in Mexico City to lead full‑cycle payroll for Mexican operations, ensure compliance with Mexican labor, tax and social security rules, and optimize payroll systems and processes. This hands‑on leadership role requires deep knowledge of CFDI nómina, IMSS/INFONAVIT/AFORE contributions, and close collaboration with HR, Finance, and external PACs/vendors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage end‑to‑end payroll processing for Mexico (weekly/quincenal/mensual as applicable), including regular, off‑cycle and final settlements.

  • Ensure correct calculation and withholding of ISR, IMSS, INFONAVIT, AFORE, and other statutory deductions; prepare and review related tax and social security deposits and reconciliations.

  • Oversee electronic payroll stamping (CFDI nómina) and coordinate with PACs/authorized providers to ensure timely timbrado and delivery of digital payslips.

  • Administer statutory benefits and accruals (aguinaldo, vacaciones, prima vacacional, prima dominical where applicable), overtime and statutory leave payments, and severance calculations under the Ley Federal del Trabajo.

  • Prepare payroll journal entries and supporting documentation for month‑end close; work with Finance on accounting integrations.

  • Maintain payroll controls, documentation and audit readiness; respond to SAT, IMSS or INFONAVIT inquiries and support external audits.

  • Lead and develop the payroll team: workload allocation, training on Mexican payroll rules, and succession/backups.

  • Maintain and optimize payroll/HRIS integrations (localizations for Workday/ADP/Oracle/SAP or local solutions such as Aspel NOI, Nominas, etc.) and partner with IT and external vendors.

  • Resolve employee payroll inquiries, coordinate with HR on benefits and leaves, and implement corrective actions.

  • Drive process improvements and automation; track payroll KPIs (accuracy, on‑time processing, audit findings).

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Contabilidad, Finanzas, Recursos Humanos, Administración de Empresas or similar (or equivalent experience).

  • 5+ years of progressive Mexican payroll experience, including CFDI nómina and social security/tax filings.

  • 2+ years managing a payroll or operations team.

  • Strong knowledge of Ley Federal del Trabajo, ISR rules, IMSS/INFONAVIT/AFORE contributions, statutory benefits (aguinaldo, vacaciones), and electronic payroll requirements.

  • Experience with payroll/HRIS systems used in Mexico and advanced Excel skills.

  • High attention to detail, confidentiality, and strong stakeholder communication skills (Spanish required; English desirable for regional coordination).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Payroll certifications or Mexican tax/payroll training.

  • Experience in multi‑entity or multinational payroll operating in Mexico.

  • Familiarity with local PACs, SAT procedures, and labor audit processes.

  • Risk & controls: developing/maintaining payroll controls, audit readiness, and vendor oversight.

  • Project & vendor management: scope, timelines, testing for system changes and launches; coordinate with IT and external providers.

  • Languages: Spanish required; English for regional coordination preferred.
