Job Description:
HPE Networking is redefining networking. By building intelligent spaces and digital workplaces, we enable entirely new customer experiences. We focus on campus networks, branch offices, mobility, Internet of Things (IoT), data centers, and wide-area backbone networks. By combining compute power, contextual awareness, centralized control, and secure connectivity, we help customers transform their business models.
We are looking for a Presales Consultant to provide technical support and deep product expertise to HPE Networking partners and customers.
This role is responsible for delivering technical support and/or technical leadership in the design and delivery of technology solutions that meet customer business requirements. You will establish and maintain strong customer relationships to ensure satisfaction and provide the highest level of product- and technology-specific expertise within the sales organization during deal pursuits. This position is aligned with specific products or product lines.
A Consulting Systems Engineer also serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in their domain (such as mobility, security, or branch networking), delivering end-to-end technical consulting and overall solution design to address customer business needs.
How you'll make your mark:
- Deliver presales technical demonstrations and solution presentations to partners and customers
- Provide technical training to partners and customers, deepening product understanding and sharing the latest features and technology evolution
- Support sales teams through customer meetings, technical briefings, and marketing events
- Own all technical aspects of the sales cycle while supporting HPE Networking opportunity pursuits
- Maintain strong awareness of market trends and competitive technologies, positioning HPE Networking solutions accurately and understanding interoperability with other technologies
- Build and deepen technical relationships with partners and customers through enablement, presales support, issue escalation, and new feature feedback
- Design, install, and configure HPE Networking products and solutions for demonstrations, Proofs of Concept (PoC), and production deployments
- Provide timely feedback to product management and R&D teams on customer requirements and market insights, contributing to future product direction
- Participate in industry trade shows, marketing events, business reviews, and corporate activities (travel required)
- Contribute to discussions around new product launches and provide technical feedback to marketing and engineering teams
About you:
- Deep expertise in enterprise networking technologies, including WLAN, LAN, and WAN, with solid knowledge of 802.11, Ethernet, and static/dynamic routing protocols and their enterprise deployment
- Proven experience in enterprise network architecture and design, with a strong understanding of LAN/WAN architectures and packet forwarding behavior
- Strong foundation in legacy networking and the ability to support smooth migration and interoperability with next-generation networks
- Ability to lead technical discussions, architecture reviews, and whiteboard design sessions
- Solid hands-on knowledge of Wi-Fi, VLANs, IP subnetting, IPv4/IPv6, TCP/UDP, ACLs, and related technologies
- Familiarity with network firewalls and common network security services
- Recent hands-on experience with router and switch CLI from major networking vendors
- Ability to deliver clear, effective technical presentations to audiences with varying technical backgrounds and roles
- Strong network troubleshooting skills with real-world experience configuring network devices
- Familiarity with mainstream virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V, KVM, Xen), including VM installation and configuration
- Understanding of cloud networking concepts and technologies such as VPC, Transit Gateway, Azure Virtual WAN, Direct Connect, Express Route, and vendor-specific solutions
- Proficiency with common tools: Microsoft Visio / Lucidchart, Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word), and Salesforce
- Strong sense of ownership and a proactive mindset, willing to go the extra mile to win business at critical moments
- Team-oriented, with a willingness to engage actively and take responsibility
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Ability to document customer requirements and network environments clearly and accurately
- Passion for continuous learning and curiosity about new technologies
- Comfortable delivering technical presentations in large or public settings
- Willing to work occasional evenings or weekends based on customer needs
- Able to remain calm and professional in high-pressure, mission-critical, and key customer environments
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 8+ years of experience as a Presales Systems Engineer / Presales Engineer
- Formal networking training and relevant certifications (such as CCNP / CCIE / JNCP / JNCIE / ACMX / ACCX), or extensive experience designing and supporting complex enterprise networks
