Linux System/Software Engineering Intern
This role has been designed as ‘’Onsite’ with an expectation that you will primarily work from an HPE partner/customer office.

Job Description:
Internship Requirements:
Students that are expected to graduate in 2027 summer.
Able to commit to a 12month part-time internship with 24hrs working hours per week.
Internship Start Date: 2026/7/6
Intern Hiring Timeline:

Responsibilities:
- Collaborate and communicate with other Linux engineers on the team and other teams to help the team deliver solid Linux support on HPE Pro Liant server platforms
- Reproduce reported bugs and confirm problem symptoms on major Linux distributions (RHEL, SLES, Ubuntu)
- Document reproduction steps, observations, and test results to support follow-up investigations
- Perform initial bug triage (OS, FW, platform, or configuration?)
- Assist with issue debug under guidance, growing ability to do so independently over time
- Assist with Linux system setup and basic system administration for test and debug environments
- Assist with development and verification of PowerBI and dashboard metric visualizations
- Assist with design and development of mechanisms for metric data collection
Education and Experience Required:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent.
Knowledge and Skills
- Solid knowledge of computer operating systems and networking, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; fluent in English and the local language.
- Solid Linux fundamentals with comfort using the command line; able to work on remote systems (e.g., via SSH), read logs, and troubleshoot issues step by step.
- Understanding of modern computer architecture and hardware/software component concepts (CPU and OS fundamentals).
- Basic C programming experience (able to read and understand existing code) and familiarity with common Linux debugging/inspection tools (e.g., dmesg, journalctl, basic process and system inspection).
- Willingness to learn and work across OS/platform boundaries; proficient with MS Office. Nice to have: Linux kernel debugging, Python/Bash scripting, RPM/DEB packaging, HTML/CSS, familiarity with developer productivity/debugging tools (including AI-assisted tools such as Microsoft Copilot/AI agent creation), and Power BI/advanced Excel skills.
