What you will do:
We are looking for an experienced Red Hat Open Shift Subject Matter Expert (SME) with a strong background in Linux systems administration (RHEL preferred) to lead and support our containerized application platform initiatives. This role involves architecting, deploying, managing, and troubleshooting Open Shift environments to ensure scalability, security, and high performance. As an Open Shift SME, you will provide technical leadership, drive best practices, and work closely with cross-functional teams to advance our container orchestration capabilities.
What you will bring:
- Platform Design and Architecture:
- Architect and design Open Shift environments, aligned with enterprise goals for containerized applications.
- Define best practices, standards, and guidelines for Open Shift deployment and management.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, architecture diagrams, and workflows.
- Deployment and Configuration:
- Deploy, configure, and manage Open Shift clusters across multiple environments (on-premises, hybrid, or cloud).
- Integrate Open Shift with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tools, including Jenkins, GitLab, and Ansible.
- Implement infrastructure as code (IaC) and automation using scripting languages like Python and tools like Ansible.
- Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
- Ensure high availability and reliability of Open Shift clusters, implementing monitoring and alerting tools.
- Troubleshoot complex issues within the Open Shift environment, including Kubernetes, container runtime, networking, and storage.
- Perform regular upgrades, patches, and maintenance activities to keep the Open Shift environment secure and up-to-date.
- Security and Compliance:
- Implement and manage security best practices for Open Shift, including identity and access management, role-based access control (RBAC), and encryption.
- Ensure compliance with company security policies and industry standards.
- Conduct regular security assessments and audits for the Open Shift environment.
- Optimization and Scaling:
- Analyse cluster performance and optimize resource usage across Open Shift workloads.
- Plan for capacity and scaling to accommodate future growth and increased demand on the platform.
- Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing:
- Work closely with DevOps, development, and operations teams to integrate Open Shift with existing workflows and applications.
- Mentor team members and provide training on Open Shift and containerization best practices.
- Stay updated with Open Shift releases and emerging trends in container orchestration and microservices.
Linux Systems Administration:

Administer and optimize Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) supporting Open Shift infrastructure.

Manage system-level configurations, kernel tuning, and performance optimization for container workloads.

Ensure OS-level security hardening, patching, and compliance with enterprise standards.

Required Technical Skills:
-
Proven expertise in Red Hat Open Shift platform administration and troubleshooting.

Strong Linux administration skills, particularly with Red Hat Enterprise Linux
-
Experience with container technologies (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes)
-
Proficiency with Red Hat Open Shift installation, configuration, and management.
-
Implement and manage Open Shift environments, including deployment configurations, cluster management, and resource optimization.
-
Solid understanding of networking, Load balancer, firewall, and storage concepts in containerized environments.
-
Scripting skills (e.g., Python, Bash) and automation tool expertise (Ansible, Terraform).
-
Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab) and monitoring solutions (Prometheus, Grafana).
-
Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer or similar role.
-
Strong understanding of Open Shift platform administration and configuration.
-
Experience with CI/CD practices and tools, preferably Open Shift Pipelines, Git Ops or similar options.

Experience with scripting languages (Python, Bash).
-
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Soft Skills:
-
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for complex Open Shift environments.
-
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and collaborate within a dynamic team.

Collaborate with customers to understand their specific requirements.

Qualifications:

Exp - 6 to 10 Years
-
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
-
Certifications such as Red Hat Certified Open Shift Administrator, RHCE, Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA).
-
Familiarity with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
-
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
-
Experience working in Agile/Scrum or other collaborative development environments.
-
Flexible to work in 24/7 support environment

Good to have:

Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
-
Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (Terraform, Ansible).

Experience with security best practices for DevOps pipelines.
