As a subject matter expert in our growing international team of forest carbon professionals, you will help execute CG’s carbon strategy across the globe on 1.4 million acres of existing ownership and directly support acquisition underwriting efforts. The role is ideally suited for a skilled analyst and modeler to grow their career in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is expected to develop innovative approaches to forest carbon investments globally and share their views with colleagues, executives, and clients.
Job Responsibilities
- Collaboratively design and analyze forest carbon projects that blend forest restoration and commercial forest management.
- Quantify expected carbon credit issuance for existing projects to support decision making.
- Share expertise in carbon crediting methodologies and develop an understanding of new and emerging approaches.
- Support and respond to client forest carbon inquires.
- Oversee of validation and verification bodies including preparation of validation and verification documentation, and review of validation and verification processes.
- Shape how CG quantifies carbon opportunities including the enhancement and continued development of existing tools.
- Coordinate with technical consultants and research organizations that support CG’s carbon project development, monitoring and reporting.
- Solve geospatial analysis challenges and develop workflows that can be replicated across the organization.
- Develop executive presentations and investment analytics related to carbon project performance that influence the thinking of decision makers.
- Actively collaborate within the organization to ensure all timberland management investment services meet or exceed client commitments.
- Represent Campbell Global at all levels, maintaining positive public relations.
Required qualifications, skills, and competencies
- Bachelor’s degree in Forestry, Biology, Data Science, or related field; and a minimum of three years working experience in a field related to natural resource analysis; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Demonstrated experience developing, running, and troubleshooting Woodstock models.
- Experience working with and analyzing forest inventory data and producing quantifications of forest carbon.
- An understanding of one or more forest carbon crediting methodologies.
- Experience with Geographic Information Systems.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in one or more of CG’s core investment regions including an understanding of forest product markets, inventory, forest growth and yield, forest operations or silvicultural management regimes.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment across multiple disciplines and across multiple locations.
- Must have excellent communication skills, both oral and written, as well as demonstrated strong interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrates excellent organizational, time, and prioritization management skills.
Preferred qualifications, skills, and competencies
- 1+ years of experience in carbon markets (e.g. carbon project development, validation and verification, or at a carbon registry)
- Ability to independently solve complex analytical problems within a collaborative team environment.
- Basic understanding of financial analysis principles.
- Knowledge of current and emerging environmental restoration and considerations.
- Experience with programming languages is desirable but not required.
- Experience with growth and yield software such as Forest Vegetation Simulator is desirable but not required.
