As a Director of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the Payments Technology you will lead a technical area and drive impact within teams, technologies, and projects across departments. Utilize your in-depth knowledge of software, applications, technical processes, and product management to drive multiple complex projects and initiatives, while serving as a primary decision maker for your teams and be a driver of innovation and solution deliver
Job Responsibilities:
- Leads the India delivery center's end-to-end delivery of banking and payments solutions, ensuring quality and compliance with business and regulatory requirements.
- Manages and grows a large, multi-disciplinary engineering team; set clear goals and drive predictable delivery outcomes.
- Provides technical leadership for enterprise backend engineering, ensuring architectural alignment, code quality, and secure practices.
- Acts as a key liaison to global stakeholders, translating business needs into scalable technical solutions and communicating status and risks transparently.
- Champions continuous improvement using Lean/Kaizen principles; standardize best practices across delivery functions.
- Attracts, develops, and retains high-performing talent; mentor emerging leaders and foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 10+ years applied experience. In addition, 5+ years of experience leading technologists to manage, anticipate and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise.
- Deep expertise in core banking systems, payment processing, regulatory requirements, and financial services technology best practices.
- Strong hands-on engineering foundation in Java and Kotlin.
- Proficient with modern frameworks, microservices architecture, cloud-native technologies, and DevOps practices; experienced in Agile/Scrum, CI/CD pipelines, and contemporary SDLC.
- Demonstrated success implementing Kaizen and continuous improvement methodologies with measurable gains in team productivity and delivery quality.
- Proven track record leading complex, multi-workstream initiatives with distributed global teams.
- Exceptional stakeholder management across time zones and cultures; adept at influencing senior executives, collaborating globally with peers, and inspiring high-performing teams.
- Combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution; thrives in fast-paced, dynamic environments; brings adaptability, structured problem-solving, and resilience.
