Join J.P.Morgan’s Japan Control Management team as a Location Control Manager (LCM) in Tokyo. You will play a crucial role in identifying, escalating, and resolving control issues, ensuring compliance with local regulations, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Your work will be vital in maintaining the firm's reputation and operational integrity.
As a Location Control Manager in the Japan Control Management team, you will report to the Japan Head of Control Management and collaborate closely with the Senior Country Business Manager (“SCBM”), local senior management, Business and Functional Control Managers both within and outside Japan, as well as other regional partners. You will be responsible for delivering a comprehensive overview of the control environment, facilitating prompt problem detection and escalation. Your role includes engaging the appropriate teams swiftly and ensuring the timely remediation of critical control issues across all affected areas of the firm
Job Responsibilities

Oversee the control environment in Japan, working with various stakeholders to identify and address control issues

Present a comprehensive view of operational risks and emerging control issues for management and governance committees

Execute control processes as expected by local regulators and management
-
Ensure timely escalation and resolution of issues through appropriate governance
-
Bridge communication across Lines of Business, Corporate Functions, Risk, Compliance, and Audit to form a comprehensive view on operational risk and controls

Oversee and Manage regulatory change implementations affecting the firm across Lines of Business and Corporate Functions
-
Provide guidance to the business on controls, audits, and testing, as well as overseeing regulatory examinations

Proactively assess and monitor control effectiveness by evaluating data and trending to identify emerging risks and opportunities in the operational risk and control environment
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
-
10+ years of relevant work experience in financial industry roles such as Operational Risk Control, Operations, Business Management, Front Office, Compliance, Audit, or Consulting

Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or other related discipline

Awareness of key Japan financial regulations
-
Fluent in Japanese language (reading, writing, speaking)

Ability to challenge and guide senior business managers effectively

Highly motivated, proactive self-starter who takes ownership
-
Good understanding of controls and how to apply them to different processes and businesses

Investigative mind-set with strong analytical, problem-solving, and process re-engineering skills

Proficient user of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint skills
-
Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Strong team player with excellent partnering and influencing skill
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

Knowledge of regional/global regulatory environments

Knowledge/experience with automation tools, such as Tableau, Alteryx, etc.
