As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the CONSUMER & COMMUNITY BANKING, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. Our product, Personalization and Insights, builds and supports high throughput, low latency applications which leverage state of the art machine learning architectures, and which are deployed in AWS. These applications power personalized experiences across Chase Consumer & Community Banking channels, to help weave a user experience that includes traditional banking services with other services in the Travel, Merchant Offer Shopping, and Dining spaces. We leverage GenAI and machine learning as well as rules based algorithms to create insights and recommendations.

Job responsibilities

• Develops secure and high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
• Helps Provide technical guidance and direction to support the business and its technical teams, contractors, and vendors
• Mentors individuals and teams to deliver engineering results with direct business and customer impacts, on time and on budget. Works has impact to immediate team and impacts additional teams and functions.
• Drives decisions that influence the product design, application functionality, and technical operations and processes for their scrum team; influences adjacent scrum teams
• Serves as a function-wide subject matter expert across functional areas covered by their scrum team and adjacent scrum teams
• Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
• Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
• Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems
• Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture
• Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies
• Adds to team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
• Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
• Advanced in one or more programming language(s)
• Hands-on software development experience in an Object-Oriented programming language (such as Java, C++, Python)
• Requires in-depth of knowledge and experience in two of the following areas, with developing knowledge in the others.
• High-throughput, low-latency micro service development leveraging AWS services such EKS, ECS, Fargate, etc.
• High throughput near real time stream processing with services such Kinesis or Flink.
• High volume data processing with services such Spark EMR.
• Solid fundamentals and experience in containers (docker ecosystem), container orchestration systems Kubernetes, ECS, DAG orchestration Airflow, Kubeflow etc
• Solid understanding of agile methodologies and knowledge of SDLC including CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills- Practical cloud native experience

• Experience with recommendation and personalization systems is a plus.
