The Equities and Prime businesses at JP Morgan provide a full complement of trading and financing solutions to institutional investor clients — from ideas and insights from top-ranked analysts, to high-touch sales and trading services, to world-class algorithmic and electronic trading capabilities. Within this wider context, JP Morgan’s Positioning Intelligence team provides meaningful insights across a range of positioning themes through thoughtful construction of relevant metrics, deep data analysis, and clear expression of ideas.

As an Analyst or Associate within the Positioning Intelligence team at JP Morgan, you will be responsible for publishing regular reports, analyzing a wide range of positioning-related metrics, and communicating the team's findings with clients. You will also work closely with the quant research and technology teams to ensure data sets are well maintained and help build scale to enhance our ability to respond to increasing client demands. Your role will be crucial in contributing to the growth of our Global Equities and Prime franchise.

Job responsibilities

  • Track key market moves and various positioning metrics to help the team provide insights to clients and investors
  • Automate and help build scale to enhance our ability to respond to increasing client demands
  • Work closely with quant research and technology teams to ensure data sets are well maintained
  • Work with the existing Positioning Intelligence team to write regular global Positioning content, assessing our own Prime positioning data sets, plus positioning / flows across our broader equities business, and via third party sources
  • Communicate effectively with external clients and internal colleagues: discuss team’s recent notes and how findings tie into market trends, learn the tendencies and desires of clients / colleagues, develop means to strengthen client relationships
  • Be open to innovation within this space, challenging assumptions and finding new ways to analyze the data

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Very high level of intellectual curiosity, strong analytical skills, and ability to work independently
  • Persistent work ethic and attention to detail
  • Strong technical knowledge of Python, and ability to write code on their own
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated interest in markets (equity, rates, credit, commodities) and data analytics.
  • Clear desire to contribute to growing our Global Equities and Prime franchise
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Research, sales and trading, or buy side experience in equities, rates, or credit

This role encompasses the performance of UK regulated activity. The successful candidate will therefore be subject to meeting UK regulatory requirements in the assessment of fitness, propriety, knowledge and competence (as assessed by the Firm) and (where appropriate) approval by the UK Financial Conduct Authority and/or the Prudential Regulation Authority to carry out such activities.
