As a Director of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase in the Wholesale Credit Risk team, you will promote the successful delivery of complex technology projects and programs that will help reach business goals across the firm. Leveraging your deep knowledge of technical principles, practices, and theories is essential for developing innovative solutions, while simultaneously effectively managing resources, budgets, and high-performing teams. Your strong analytical reasoning and adaptability skills will enable you to navigate through ambiguity and change, ensuring that technology initiatives align with business goals. With advanced communication and stakeholder management abilities, you will foster productive working relationships and influence decision-making to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.

Job responsibilities

  • Lead and manage complex technical programs focused on modernizing data platforms, including migration from legacy Oracle databases and big data environments to modern, cloud-based solutions.
  • Develop and maintain program roadmaps, timelines, and deliverables to ensure alignment with business objectives and technology strategy.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams (data engineering, software development, analytics, business stakeholders) to deliver high-impact data solutions.
  • Champion best practices in program management, technical delivery, data security, risk management, regulatory compliance, and automation.
  • Facilitate program governance, including status reporting, risk identification, issue resolution, and stakeholder communication.
  • Drive initiatives to consolidate, de-duplicate, and migrate legacy data platforms, ensuring data quality, integrity, and accessibility.
  • Present program strategies, architecture decisions, and project updates to senior stakeholders, providing clear and actionable insights.
  • Balance urgent operational needs with long-term strategic goals, prioritizing initiatives for maximum business impact.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, integrity, innovation, and continuous improvement across technical and business teams.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • 10+ years of experience in technical program management with a proven track record of delivering large-scale data or technology transformation projects in hybrid cloud
  • Strong understanding of data engineering concepts, including data modeling, database design, big data technologies, and cloud data platforms
  • Experience managing programs involving transactional and analytical data systems.
  • Proficiency in program management methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall), project planning, and execution.
  • Solid background in data security, risk management, and regulatory compliance within technical programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and inspire cross-functional and global teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
