Job Description:

Role Overview

Lead scientific activation strategies across Asia Pacific by translating global sourcing priorities into region-specific opportunities. Drive the design and execution of high-impact scientific engagement campaigns, while fostering strategic partnerships with academia, start-ups, and industry stakeholders. Strengthen Johnson & Johnson’s presence in APAC through initiatives that combine ecosystem engagement expertise with advanced scientific and innovation-focused outreach.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Scientific Activation

  • Partner with Global Sourcing Activation to lead TA sourcing activations following TA EI priorities in APAC: Develop and execute APAC scientific activation strategies—including symposiums, roadshows, and multi-channel campaigns—aligned with global priorities. Adapt global playbooks and templates for effective regional implementation.
  • Lead JLABS Shanghai resident activations (CEO roundtables, new resident onboarding, quarterly reporting to ZJMC) and manage ongoing stakeholder relationships to accelerate resident growth.

Ecosystem Engagement & Partnerships

  • Cultivate and manage high-value relationships with academia, start-ups, incubators, and industry associations, governments, KOLs and potential sponsors to identify and source breakthrough innovations. Support APAC leadership in representing Johnson & Johnson at regional conferences and events through speaking engagements, sponsorships, and thought leadership initiatives.
  • Lead and maximize J&J presence at regional conferences—sponsorships, speaking engagements, event planning, advertising, booths and speaker curation—and coordinate high‑visibility internal and external visits.

Integration & Collaboration

  • Partner closely with the Global Scientific Sourcing team, ESI AP team and TAs to ensure alignment of early innovation efforts with broader communication strategies and sourcing strategies. Act as a trusted advisor to regional leadership on scientific activation approaches. Support the Regional Sourcing Lead by running ESI AP bi‑weekly sourcing meetings and coordinating APAC activation planning.

Operational Excellence

  • Drive regional processes for campaign planning, compliance, budgets, execution, performance measurement; convert insights into process improvements and measurable action items,
  • Continue to standardize operating practices and materials (SOPs, reporting templates) and implement governance mechanisms to reduce risk and improve efficiency.

Thought Leadership

  • Monitor emerging scientific trends and market dynamics across APAC to inform activation strategies and elevate  Johnson & Johnson’s regional presence & reputation through integrated communications and collateral (electronic and hardcopy newsletters, one-pagers, infographics, brochures, presentations, social channels etc).

Qualifications /Requirements:

  • An advanced degree in life sciences or related discipline is required.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years experience in Marketing, Communications, Business or a related discipline is required.

Experience and Skills Required:

  • A proven performer with a minimum of 7 years of brand/product marketing and events experience is required, with a focus on life science or healthcare. Strong familiarity with variety of marketing tools and approaches to drive business results.
  • Experience developing program content and advertising is required, translating R&D requirements into marketing/activation campaigns.
  • Analytical use of data and strong writing skills
  • Customer acquisition methodologies and customer service experience
  • Good people skills, able to influence management and work cross-functionally in a matrixed environment are required.
  • Team leadership and management experience, inclusive leadership aligned with our Johnson & Johnson Leadership Imperatives

Preferred:

  • A PhD or MD is preferred with work history in oncology, neuroscience, and immunology
  • Understanding of start-up ecosystem 
  • Experience in strategic consulting or agency 
  • Experience within a life science and/or healthcare setting, or industry association
  • Experience in event management tools and online tools 
  • Experience in strategy development and management of social media is preferred
