CAR‑T is an innovative treatment that harnesses the power of a patient’s own immune system. By genetically modifying a patient’s T‑cells to target and destroy cancer cells, this breakthrough technology offers new hope to patients for whom conventional therapies no longer provide adequate results.

Join our innovative team within the **Manufacturing Asset Management (MAM)**organization in Ghent as the MESEngineer for the Ops Trakker Cryopreservation Platform.

In this role, you will support the digital management of cryopreservation operations in Beerse, ensuring system reliability, performance, and continuous improvement for both Operations and Quality Assurance.

This is a unique opportunity to deepen your expertise at the intersection of cell therapy, manufacturing operations, and digital system ownership—while contributing directly to the timely and reliable delivery of life‑changing treatments to patients worldwide.

As MES Engineer for Ops Trakker – Cryopreservation, your main responsibilities include:

1.

Platform Ownership & Governance:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all technical and functional matters related to the Ops Trakker Cryopreservation platform.

  • Own the end‑to‑end lifecycle management of the solution, ensuring compliance, robustness, and alignment with business needs.

  • Maintain and evolve governance processes to ensure clear communication and structured decision‑making with stakeholders (Operations, QA, MSAT, IT, etc.).

2.

System Support & Issue Management:

  • Support troubleshooting activities, acting as the escalation point for complex system issues.

  • Provide guidance to create a sustainable, future‑proof support model, including documentation, training, and knowledge management.

  • Ensure timely resolution of deviations and technical events affecting system performance or operational continuity in cooperation with involved departments.

3.

Continuous Improvement & Release Management:

  • Manage the backlog of enhancements and system changes, ensuring proper business prioritization.

  • Keep an oversight of the design, testing, and release of changes, coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure quality and compliance.

  • Define, track, and manage the scope, timeline, and deliverables for system releases, ensuring alignment with operational and quality requirements.

4. Stakeholder Engagement & Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate closely with Operational and Quality teams in Beerse to understand and translate user needs into system improvements.

  • Partner with IT, vendors, and internal digital teams to ensure the platform remains reliable, secure, and scalable.

  • Foster a culture of collaboration, transparency, and proactive problem-solving across teams.

5. Strategic Contribution

  • Contribute to the broader digital strategy of MAM and CAR‑T EMEA by identifying opportunities to further digitalize and optimize cryopreservation workflows.

  • Serve as a key ambassador for digital system excellence within the CAR‑T network.

  • Travel to the Beerse site when needed.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Supply Chain, Life Sciences, or similar, with 2–3 years’ experience in operations, digital systems, MES/electronic systems, or manufacturing support.
  • Experience with system ownership, IT/OT solutions, or digital workflow tools (e.g., MES, eBR, mobile execution systems), plus strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.
  • Proven ability to lead cross‑functional discussions, influence stakeholders, and translate business needs into clear, actionable requirements.
  • Highly organized, independent, and effective in fast‑paced environments; demonstrates change‑agent mindset and drives process improvements.
  • Strong communicator and collaborator across Operations, QA, MSAT, IT, and partners; proactive, solution‑oriented, fluent in English (Dutch a plus)

Preferred:

  • Experience in cell therapy, biologics, or other regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of GxP systems or validated environments.
  • Experience with cryopreservation processes or digital operations in biotech/pharma.

At Johnson & Johnson, we want every candidate to feel supported throughout the hiring process. Our goal is to make the experience clear, fair, and respectful of your time.

Here’s what you can expect:
