We are searching for the best talent for a EHS Specialist to be in Sassenheim, Netherlands!

BU5-LVV in Sassenheim is a new Johnson & Johnson Supply Chain Lentiviral Vector (LVV) production facility, designed to support the global Johnson & Johnson BCMA CAR-T program for multiple myeloma—a disease affecting ~160,000 patients annually. This state-of-the-art biologics manufacturing site will play a key role in advancing patient care.

As an EHS Specialist, you will ensure a safe, healthy, and sustainable environment within Operations. You will be the go-to expert for EHS topics, working closely with manufacturing specialists, operators, engineers, and EHS representatives.

Are you passionate about Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) and ready to make an impact in a global healthcare leader? Do you thrive on improving processes and creating a safe, sustainable work environment? Then this is your opportunity!

You’ll be part of a dynamic team during the full-scale operations, contributing to safety excellence and continuous improvement.

You will be responsible for:

  • Being the primary contact for all EHS-related topics within the Business Unit and facility.

  • Leading and facilitate incident investigations and ensure proper reporting.

  • Coaching and guide EHS Representatives/Ambassadors on the shop floor.

  • Performing EHS assessments for projects and process changes.

  • Supporting risk assessments (facility, ergonomic, chemical, biosafety) and mitigation plans.

  • Preparing for and participate in internal/external audits (ISO 14001/45001, J&J audits, governmental inspections).

  • Collaborating with the EHS department, Biosafety Officer, and Operational Standard Owners.

  • Monitoring EHS performance through data analysis and define improvement actions.

  • Developing a multi-year EHS strategy aligned with site objectives.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety (e.g., HVK, Industrial Hygiene) or Bio-process/Chemical/Process Engineering.

  • 2–4 years of operational experience in biotechnology or biopharmaceutical environments.

  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical/bio-processing principles and GMP standards.

  • Strong communication skills in English (Dutch preferred).

  • Proactive, solution-oriented mindset with excellent problem-solving skills.

At Johnson & Johnson, we want every candidate to feel supported throughout the hiring process. Our goal is to make the experience clear, fair, and respectful of your time.

Here’s what you can expect:

  • Application review: We’ll carefully review your CV to see how your skills and experience align with the role.
  • Getting to know you: If there’s a good match, you’ll be invited to a short call with one of our recruitment team to understand more about you and answer any questions that you might have.
  • Staying informed: We know waiting can be hard and processes can evolve; our recruitment team will keep you updated and make sure you know what to expect at each step.
  • Final steps: For successful candidates, you will need to complete country-specific checks before starting your new role. We will help guide you through these.

Finally, at the end of the process, we’ll invite you to share feedback in a short survey — your input helps us continue improving the experience for future candidates. Thank you for considering a career with Johnson & Johnson. We’re excited to learn more about you and wish you the best of luck in the process!
