What You Will Do

The HVAC-Chiller Technician will be reporting to Operations Team Leader, Africa HVAC Sales. You will be supporting customers by executing the tasks of installation and commissioning of equipment, planned/unplanned maintenance and repairs as well as servicing of equipment as per Service Contracts/maintenance schedules. You will be mostly working on the customer’s site.

Being the face of the company in the eyes of the customer, you will be holding a key role in the organization with the mission of providing excellent service to your clients.

How You Will Do It

Site Work, Installation & Commissioning

• Conduct site surveys prior to installation.
• Install HVAC and chiller equipment according to specifications.
• Ensure careful placement of units to prevent damage during and after installation.
• Upgrade or refurbish equipment when required.
• Perform thorough testing to identify faults and verify correct operation.
• Ensure all installed equipment complies with system manuals and standards.
• Commission systems using standard configuration and commissioning tools.

Maintenance, Repairs & Troubleshooting

• Perform scheduled maintenance as per Service Contracts (bi‑weekly, monthly, or annual).
• Follow preventative maintenance schedules to reduce downtime.
• Respond promptly to call‑outs and service requests.
• Test malfunctioning systems and components to diagnose issues.
• Overhaul equipment and determine necessary repairs or replacements.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems effectively.
• Provide detailed feedback on failures and recommend improvements.
• Return faulty equipment to Johnson Controls and complete all required documentation.

Customer Interaction & Value-Added Services:

• Identify additional equipment or service needs during site visits.
• Communicate potential sales opportunities to the Technician Team Leader or Client Service Manager.
• Offer value‑added consulting and technical advice to customers.
• Build strong customer relationships to encourage repeat business.

What we look for

Required

• At least 4 years of experience at a similar position
• Matric certificate
• Qualified Artisan certificate
• Valid code B driver’s license
• Computer literacy
• Applicants with chiller experience will be given preference
