What you will do

The Engineering Early Career Development Manager will lead the Global Products and Solutions engineering early talent program, overseeing the development of interns and rotational associates across various engineering disciplines (e.g., mechanical, electrical, software, systems). This role will focus on building a strong pipeline of engineering talent through structured development programs, including learning and development, performance management, leadership training, employee assessment, and early succession planning. In this role, you will report directly to the Vice President of Engineering Excellence with a dotted line to the Global Director, Fin & Proc Early Talent. You will also collaborate with engineering leaders, HR, and Learning & Development partners to ensure a high-quality experience and successful career progression for participants.

This role is preferably hybrid at any one of our engineering offices in the following locations:

  • Milwaukee, WI

  • Marinette, WI

  • Cranston, RI

  • New Freedom, PA

  • Waynesboro, PA

  • Fishers, IN

How you will do it

  • Administer the GPS Engineering Rotational Program, including recruiting, interviewing, goal setting, 1:1s, IDPs, career profiles, performance evaluations, and identifying next roles.

  • Partner with targeted universities and engineering departments to coordinate recruiting efforts, logistics, information sessions, and engagement with student organizations and affinity networks, with a focus on diversity and inclusion.

  • Select and prepare assignment managers, implementing a method to measure training effectiveness and participant experience.

  • Partner with business and talent teams to identify impactful engineering projects that foster growth and deliver value to the organization.

  • Deliver learning sessions, which may include live classroom sessions and web-based learning sessions (synchronous or asynchronous). Flex instruction and

  • facilitation styles and approaches to fit the needs of the audience, the content, and the technology.

  • Establish and sustain a formal sponsorship/mentorship program, including onboarding and training of mentors and sponsors.

  • Meet regularly with assignment managers to assess participant progress, competency development, and overall experience.

  • Collaborate with other early career program managers to share best practices and drive consistency.

  • Develop and administer the Learning and Development curriculum tailored to engineering competencies and career paths.

  • Organize transition meetings, graduation ceremonies, and recognition events for program participants.

  • Oversee conversion of interns to full-time roles and facilitate weekly roundtable discussions to foster community and engagement.

  • Provide input into Organizational Talent Reviews (OTRs) for program alumni and graduates.

  • Continuously assess and improve the onboarding process for interns and rotational associates to ensure a positive experience from day one.

  • Support career development of program alumni, including mentorship and guidance through early career transitions and evaluating on-the-job effectiveness of former class participants as appropriate.

  • Coordinate a formal feedback mechanism, analyze input, and implement improvements to enhance program outcomes.

  • Track KPIs such as conversion rates, performance ratings, and leadership progression.

  • Report results of measurements and evaluations to appropriate Program and Engineering Leaders. Develop and present recommendations for continuous improvements.

What you will need
Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, software, systems, or related field e.g. previous engineering project or program management work)

  • 8+ years progressive engineering experience with 3+ years of experience being in a leadership, or program management, role

  • Demonstrated collaborative leadership and program management experience

  • Strong passion for people development and early career talent

  • Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office and engineering-related software tools including AI

  • Facilitation experience with developing blended learning solutions

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization

Preferred

  • Experience working globally with cross-functional teams

  • Established internal network and stakeholder relationships

  • Experience managing remote teams or distributed program participants

  • Prior experience as an individual contributor in engineering roles

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $110,000 - $150,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.) This role offers a competitive Bonus plan that will take into account individual, group, and corporate performance. This position includes a competitive benefits package.
