Senior Salesforce Developer

Overview: Johnson Controls is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Salesforce Developer to join our team. In this role, you will design, build, enhance, and maintain our enterprise B2B Commerce application within the Salesforce platform. You will collaborate closely with onshore and offshore teams in an agile environment, provide technical guidance, and mentor Salesforce Developers while ensuring strong adherence to best practices across all phases of the development lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and deploy robust and maintainable Salesforce solutions.
• Collaborate with onshore and offshore teams, including UI/UX Leads, Product Owners, Delivery Leads, and Technical Architects.
• Write clean, efficient, scalable, and well d‑ocumented code using Apex, Lightning Web Components (LWC), Aura, Visualforce, Flow and other Salesforce technologies.
• Integrate Salesforce with external systems using REST/SOAP APIs and event driven‑ architecture.
• Evaluate user requirements in partnership with the Product Owner and engineering teams.
• Provide recommendations for interacting with legacy systems and prepare design documentation to outline software components and architecture.
• Establish and enforce Salesforce development with best practices, review code for quality, performance, and compliance with platform governance.
• Create and maintain Salesforce object schemas, metadata, and data models.
• Analyze, interpret, and optimize existing codebases to ensure robustness and performance.
• Stay current with Salesforce releases, features, and platform enhancements; propose improvements accordingly.
• Assist in developing and maintaining technical documentation, including design specifications, architecture diagrams, and user guides.
• Provide technical leadership by training, mentoring, and guiding Salesforce Developers, supporting their growth, and ensuring high-quality code through regular code reviews and coaching on best practices.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on‑ experience in developing, administering, and configuring Salesforce solutions.
• Experience with Salesforce Commerce Cloud (B2B with LWR) and Coveo is a plus.
• Demonstrated experience collaborating with both onshore and offshore development teams.
• Strong proficiency in Salesforce objects, Apex programming, integrations, data management, and security models.
• Proven background in designing, building, and deploying enterprise applications on the Salesforce platform.
• Strong understanding of design patterns, coding standards, and Salesforce best practices.
• Solid front‑end development skills using JavaScript, HTML, CSS, SLDS, and the Lightning Component Library.
• Experience building SaaS applications is an advantage.
• Familiarity with SSO, session management, user authentication frameworks, and identity management concepts.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve performance issues across Salesforce applications.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform is a plus.
• Proficiency with version control tools (e.g., Azure Repos, GitHub) and CI/CD pipelines (Azure Pipelines).
• Experience with Agile/Scrum practices and tools such as Azure Boards or Jira.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts to diverse audiences.
• Self-motivated, ‑detail-oriented, and capable of working independently in a ‑fast-paced‑ environment.
• Salesforce Certifications such as Platform Developer I/II, Salesforce B2B, Experience Cloud, Agentforce Specialist are highly preferred.
