Primary Function of Position
To enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the organization's operations through continuous improvement initiatives delivering significant improvements in product reliability, cost, manufacturability and capacity for robotic surgical instruments and accessories.
The OPEX Engineer is responsible for coaching other employees of ISI MX when working on continuous improvement projects. The OPEX engineer works to be a facilitator for continuous improvement at the sites and systemizes these efforts.
This role emphasizes creating value by streamlining processes, reducing waste, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement
Essential Job Duties
- Gather and analyze business data to identify trends, issues, opportunities and inefficiencies in current business processes and productivity, propose and lead the implementation of continuous improvement strategies/programs for optimization. Using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Responsible for scheduling, training, facilitating and successfully running Kaizen Leaders and Continuous improvement programs.
- Provide education, training, coaching and mentoring to employees on the best practices for operational excellence and continuous improvement tools and techniques to ensure the completion of projects that are of interest to ISI Mexicali.
- Lead high impact projects aimed at improving operational business processes. Including setting project goals/benefits, managing timelines, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring successful implementation.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of improvement initiatives and ensure that goals are being met.
- Perform processes for the validation of the completion, metrics and financial results of the continuous improvement projects.
- Ensure that all continuous improvement projects are complying with the current Quality System
- Establish, execute and maintain the Operational Excellence recognition program.
- Facilitate change within the organization by promoting a culture of continuous improvement and ensuring buy-in from all levels of staff.
- Work closely with various departments to align operational excellence initiatives with overall business strategies and objectives
Required Skills and Experience
- Experience in the position or area: at least 2 years’ experience as a Continuous Improvement (OPEX) Engineer.
- Experience with continuous improvement operating systems.
- Languages: English (80%).
- Systems Management: MS Office: PowerPoint (High), Excel (High) Project (Medium), SAP, Minitab, Agile.
- Continuous Improvement events, Project Management knowledge, Production lines balancing, Presentation Skills.
- Leadership, Proactivity, Organization, Planning, Training and Good Communication skills
Required Education and Training
- Professional Career @ Industrial, Manufacturing, Process, Electronic, Mechanical or Production Engineering.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Other Studies: Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma Certification.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in the medical industry.
